10% of the purchase price barely covers sales tax. Texas is the only state I know of that doesn't tax a lot of energy efficient appliances. Utility companies will often times give credits to people who make improvments. Everybody can use that. Not everybody qualifies for tax credits, and even fewer of those people file the IRS long form in their taxes.

Dude, it is not as simple as that. It is very locality dependant, there are neighborhood codes such as NO FUCKING ONEHUNDREDFOOT TOWERS IN YOUR YARD, there are local code enforcement, there are times when the wind doesnt blow and your shit doesnt work that day, it isnt a simple go buy a windmill and woohoo live electricity free.
Oh, and are you living on windmill power? If so post a picture I would like to see what your windmill looks like.

Here's another disturbing phenomenon that a professional meteorologist discussed with me recently; global warming is well known to be happening fastest at the poles, leading to a lessening of the temperature difference between poles and equatorial regions. This temperature differential is what drives weather patterns, and as the differential narrows, weather patterns will increasingly stall and become stationary, for months at a time. A few hundred miles could be the difference between torrential, flooding rains day after day- and deepest drought.
You may need to be a little more specific on what the definition of "storms and natural disasters" means in the context used. I'm looking at (supposed) data which suggests otherwise.
I'm sticking to my guns on the chart @heckler73 posted; while the total number of hurricanes was flat, I saw a clear signal towards more major storms.

You know what? That same chart shows total hurricanes trending down, yet major storms STILL have a long term upward trend. That means the percentage of hurricanes that are major storms is climbing substantially... and that's significant.
Why? Because such an result is right in line with global warming models, specifically sea surface temperatures. Warmer water temperatures provide the energy hurricanes need to get stronger.
I'd say it's time to sell the beach house in the Caribbean. Maybe buy a boat so you can sail out of the way...

Texans. That are 90 ish saying same about drought n then rain fall..
Californians and south Carolinians... Louisiana ..whatever... Weather is more extreme and sticking around longer

Colorado. The weather here has been eerily calm of late. I'm a nearly lifelong resident. Over my lifetime, I can clearly see a warming trend of summers getting hotter and winters not being as frigid.
