Alrighty so like I said I'm in a bit of a DIY type mood and I wanted to tinker with the box today and do at least one thing to improve it !
So heres what I decided .. my lights don't have reflectors and even though the inside of my box is white, I have mylar and was too lazy to put it on all the walls as I did a short experiment with it and the temps were a bit outta control for me. So anyway having things laying around I decided I'll use a plate + mylar = Tdots Ghetto DIY reflector
Here's my step by step (even though I'm pretty sure a chimp could do this
)
Tdot's Ghetto DIY CFL Reflector
Materials Required:
-Large paper Plate (Mine is 12" across)
-Scissors
-Mylar or Safety Blanket
-Pen/Marker
-Tape ( I used reflective tape as I just happened to have it, I suppose duct would work too)
Step 1:
I don't think you need to draw the line however I did it just for an example.
Step 2:
Cut out the Line and middle square or circle
Step 3:
Cut out mylar square or circle to fit around outer edge of the plate. Trim it up and flip the plate over.
(sorry forgot to take a pic of this step,
)
Step 4:
Take your tape and tape the mylar on to the plate in a few places. Make sure its not all wrinkly or you'll lose reflectivity.
Step 5:
Flip it back over and admire your work...
The only other thign I suggest is to copy your cut line and square/circle in the mylar so that the cord can slide through easily.
Step 6:
Place the reflector over the wire and let it rest on the socket.. Voila, ghetto DIY reflector, Tdot Style !
and one last shot from underneath
So thats it, hopefully it'll help atleast one person other than myself. If anyone has any concerns or comments I'm well open to hear and adapt..
Thanks,
-Tdot
