So when can I post and ask a question??? Every question that pertains to WEED has been answered on Rollitup thread, keep that in mind. So your saying dont post the thread because the question has been answered before... If that was to happen nobody would ever post again. I dont understand I thought the threads were to gain information. The journal grow threads is were experienced growers can jump off.I think what Bobby_G meant was that your question would have been better asked in the thread
IF you are new to LED and want help choosing what to buy, POST HERE!
which is what he gave you the link for. It saves the forum being turned into a thousand pages of simple beginner questions. People normally start their own thread when they have their build started to show it off and/or ask/answer questions. There are tons of knowledgeable guys around who will help you out so you're in the right place. You will likely get alot more help if you post in that thread.
I just dont like people commin at me sidewayz man. I show everybody respect so it pisses me off when cats make it seem like my post hurt the site. just tell me whats up and ima make the adjustment.Hey man, this DIY LED stuff can be overwhelming in the beginning. I know that it was for me, especially since there is so much conflicting information and so many threads. I'd definitely suggest watching Growmau5's youtube channel, I wish his n00b vids were around when I started reading about this jazz. I'll throw in my own $.02 here too.
As people mentioned, intensity of the light is largely dependent on the current (represented in mA on datasheets) driving it and number of led modules being used. They mentioned running lower currents because simply enough, at lower currents these LED's will produce lower luminous flux. Think of it like the gas pedal on your car. I would download a Vero 29 datasheet even if you have no interest in Vero 29 LED's (which shouldn't be the case!!!). They calculate what the typical luminous flux will be per LED at a given current and temperature, which was invaluable in helping me understand all this stuff. Cree's datasheets on the other hand provide you with graphs and equations in order to calculate this data on your own, which can be confusing when you don't fully understand what all the different variables mean, not to mention that the scaled graphs require you to guesstimate which can be even more intimidating for someone just getting into the hobby.
FWIW I have a 5' tent and plan on using 5 vero 29's at 1050mA. Good luck homie
watched grow mau 5, greenegene, supra, realstyle, Im just checking all angles before i drop this cash bra.Hey man, this DIY LED stuff can be overwhelming in the beginning. Good.watched grow mau 5, greenegene, supra, realstyle, Im just checking all angles before i drop this cash bra.
Im trying to find out how long my heatsink needs to be. growmau5 uses 36" heatsink with 4cxb in his video but How long with 5 cxbs im thinking 40" with 2 pc fans. @56% @50w
1400 amps with 240(b) driver. I should be able to run 4.9 cobs @36v on driver. correct me if im wrongGood.
At what current were you anticipating driving them? 36" in a 4'x2' tent sounds ideal for a nice, even spread. I can tell you that from my own DIY led, a single low rpm 120mm fan on the heatsink makes a night and day difference on both the driver and LED. I'm at just 700mA
5 will work on that driverwatched grow mau 5, greenegene, supra, realstyle, Im just checking all angles before i drop this cash bra.

Its like your saying im hurting the site with "My Begginer Questions" F### ### the site success is predicated on users creating threads and high user traffic.
Does the owner want me to stop posting threads...Ill wait... NO thats what he made it for.
BTW I POSTED ON THAT THREAD SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE CHECK MY POST AND I NEVER GOT A REPLY.... BECAUSE ITS NOT EFFICIENT

179V (the maximum voltage of that driver per datasheet)/34.89V (the voltage of a 3590 @ 1400 ma, per datasheetright but im going to trust growmau5 and realstlyes they recommended it.
And from what he discussed in his video the formula would actually be 179/35v.
Im currently in CIS myself with 3.8 gpa with 11 full time semesters under my belt ive also created a few programs in C++ language. So MFs need to know their shyt when confronting me.sweet melt btw
Thanks for the info179V (the maximum voltage of that driver per datasheet)/34.89V (the voltage of a 3590 @ 1400 ma, per datasheet
alternatively think of it as 34.89 x 5 = 174.45 V so good to go as it is less than the drivers max of 179
I had my popcorn out !sweet melt btw
You can post a question whenever and wherever you want. No, I'm not saying 'don't post this thread because the question has been asked before', that is what you're saying. No, I'm not saying you are hurting the site with 'Beginner Questions', you are. No, I'm not a computer tough guy, I merely stated you might get more help by posting in the other thread. If you want to turn what I said into something worth getting riled up about go ahead, doesn't bother me. I was trying to help you just like I've tried to help others. It's the internet, communicating is not easy...and you're solid proof of that. I couldn't have worded my previous post much more friendly...but sometimes people look for whatever fits their agenda. Good luck in your build regardless, after all, that's what we're here for.So when can I post and ask a question??? lol sure you can look at it either way. You wanted to run 5 cobs, so dividing 179 by 5 gives you the max voltage per cob that driver can provide. If the driver were only capable of 150v max than it would put out 30v per cob - in other words not enough to light em up. Alegebrahright but im going to trust growmau5 and realstlyes they recommended it.
