Are cobs worth it?

I can. It has to fail for the warranty to cover it. I don't think they will replace a bulb that's just been diminishing in spectral output. I'm not going to spend the money on new bulbs either. They worked great for a few years. Now it's time to move on. Upgrade my cob panel and get more cobs and cmh's.
I will continue to use them until everything is replaced. Then I plan on using them for a breeding lab when I get a new spot next year.

I like the COBs but you gotta supplement the UV-B and 730 far red light, plants grow differently with more far red from my observations, they stretch more and produce a lot more and the uv light makes them frostier from my experience. I think COBs will evolve and someone will make a COB specifically designed to grow cannabis, but its not there yet. These are basically flood lamps.

@captainmorgan just did a side by side with supplemental uv and cobs abd cobs alone. 3% increase in thc. Nothin to be to Concerned about.

3% is huge....considering most plants will never reach 30% that's at least a 10% increase in tric production...what the heck you saying nothing to be concerned about....I want my meds as potent as I can possibly make them or else they wouldn't be worth me growing I might as well buy from the dispensary.

He's not a hash maker. But the increase yield in hash would be what I'd care about more.
When I ran uvb with cobs. The trichomes developed faster and developed smaller in the end. Most of the hash was in the 45u bag. Yes 3% is a big increase for thc. You have to understand with each cannabinoid what's considered a lot is very small in numbers. Like 1% of cbg and cbc is huge. And 3 % of cbd is pretty good too. Most high thc strains that have great medicinal value only have at most 1% cbd and 0.8% cbg Yet they still do great for pain and Ms and epilepsy patients and still get you really high. So a 3% increase in thc is not at all something to shrug off as nothing.

He's getting most of the stuff back they took. The d.a. dropped the case. I'd imagine the plants are dead though. He's able to grow the same plant numbers legally again. 96 per license and they have 3 licenses on the farm.

They keep passing all these BS laws here in Colorado, now you can only grow 12 plants per household no matter what, even if you have a higher plant count medically and they are slowly getting rid of caregivers, basically commercializing cannabis out here, next step will be to eliminate home growers all together. They want you smoking death(tons of pesticides, fungicides and unknown horrible chemical fertilizers) and paying them money(taxes) to do that.

They already passed those dumb ass laws here, they DUI test you for old THC in your system here, if you smoked the night before getting pulled over your screwed, its really dirty and they get away with whatever they want because they are not listening to anything the federal government says so its like the wild west for the cops.

I used 3x1100 HPS for years ( I still have one in use) in my personal grows
I started messing with LEDS in 2008, yes I bought a ufo w/the spin wand.
I went though countless systems, and configurations. not to mention monies.
it wasn't until I added some 2xk3's 2x315 CMH in 2012 That I saw weight in the same "ballpark" including the parking lot.
about 18 months of that can I switched to Spectrum kings 400+ (6) of them. I was with in a QP of my HPS range.
that's where I am today. with the exception of some new tasty LEDs and one CMH, I ditched the Sunsystem's for phantoms, because I able to keep the ballast out of the tent, they do put out quite some heat.
what started as a 4x4 is now more like a 4x6 Ive pics somewheres on a thread.
I can tell you the SpectrumKing's (which are not COB's) were great, I know a lot of people here would thumb there noses at the light, but its done right by me.
I'm actually using more watts (about 400watts) and running hotter +10F +/- with the cob+CMH config. but, I'm getting more intense light for sure. I got the CMH on a light mover all of 7 inches. (noted: I'm a total tent of 1466-watts from the wall vs the HPS set up of 3400-watts and change)
I will report: they were flipped 5/17/16

That's what is known in the biz as "user error".
Ive just replaced my old 150W MH with 4x Cobs 5000K with poti, and problems started. Plants became extremly bushy and yellow small leafs. So if youre so clever tell me what errors did I made
