After Spraying Alcohol/Water for Spider Mites.....

Hello, I have looked online for about an hour and connot find anything like this so I turn to my fellow growers for input. This is my first grow. My plants are outdoors. I am about 4-5 weeks into flower. Everything has looked pretty good so far. Yesterday I noticed some Two spotted spider mites moving in so today I sprayed with alcohol/water. A few hours later, while admiring my girls, I noticed a few of these leaves on the end plant. They were curled up good. I flattened them out a bit for a better look at the leaf and under light noticed the lovely new coloring to boot. WTH?

you sprayed alcohol on them? wow never heard that one before. im not sure you may wanna wait and see what others say, but i dont think alcohol was a good idea.

never alcohol, alcohol can break down THC so you are dripping THC down your plants into the ground

GODDAMNIT!!!! I read on a dozen websites, including this one, to use a mix of isopropyl rubbing alcohol and water (50/50) to kill spider mites. Everyone said it doesn't hurt the buds. "Spray up, down, all around" was the general consensus. I did try to avoid the buds and tops of the leaves. What I showed in my OP is only affecting less than 10 leaves, out of hundreds.

i've done it before and no problems, perhaps you used too much alchol and not enough water.. it wasn't supposed to be 50/50 mixture, lol , like 10-90 or 20-80 mixture..

they should be fine though

10% alcohol, but it will not get rid of them. You need Azamx or Avid.

want spider mites gone, a product called mite rid will accomplish this. Alcohol hurts the tissue of your plants, don't do that again

i've been here for a LONG time and i allways say the SAME thing. NEEM OIL. NOT fucking alcohol. i have heard some bad things on this forum but this is horrible.....

its NEEM OIL and its 20/80 oil water.

Rubbing alcohol on my girls was a very hard sell for sure, but like I said I did A LOT of research and many swear by it. Here's just one thread from this site:

I agree, on the face of it, it sounds like a bad idea. I didn't get too crazy (I only used a few ounces) and think they will be fine. I'll pick up some Azamax tomorrow and go with it from now on.

I know a guy who does the alcohol/water spray for mites. Other than a little damage to some leaves it seems to work for him. Id rather use a product specifically designed for it tho.

It works amazingly to kill spidermite up to the 2nd week in flower. Will still kill mites. But at that strength your garunteed to dissolve your plants. Try using 1:10 or 1:5. Much less brutal on the crystals. Thing I'd say is would you rather lose a bit of potency or smoke a bunch of dead microscopic spiders and their shit and webs. Uhhh. Gonna have to go with lower potency and then not having to worry about it the next run.

Or go with the old fashioned try it out on one bud and not the whole plant. If it seems fine then it's fine

This is 4 weeks into flower. Buds have been sprayed twice a week with a fungicide that has a small amount of running alcohol in it. The frost looks just fine to this guy

Not even classy genetics. My friends accidentally pollinated his whole crop and these were born as my next

I have a question for some experienced growers out there, I currently have an active battle I'm fighting, thought I was done after my last tour in Iraq lol. Scales have found their way into my room and they seem to like their new home. I have heard that if you used a 50/50 alcohol/ water or, or even stronger on "veg" and I say again "veg" plants only it will kill the scales. They do not seem to be doing much damage as I squish them when I see them however, I would like them nuked.

Flying Skull Nuke Um. will get rid of mites.. moilds.. and other pests.. its organic and safe and wont leave a taste in your buds. I have used it a lot and even use it to sterilize my tent and even spray my harvest to prevent mold while drying when its was warm and humid. I have even seen people mix a bin full and as they cut their harvest they dip it into the tub before hanging.

Alcohol is a solovent so that's what it will do to the trichomes on your buds. You can use a vacuum cleaner suck the mites off of your plant, and then use a soap that is made for spider mites on cannabis plants. But I would be vigilant with the vacuum it works.
