I had it done in 1999, give or take a year. I had both eyes done the same day. I went in with my good eye at around 20/40 and a significant astigmatism. I was severely nearsighted.

The first two weeks after the procedure, I was wondering what the hell I did. My eyesight came and went, going from clear to extremely blurry. It eventually smoothed out and I was in the 20/25 range in one eye and around 20/20 in the other.

I didn't need glasses until recently, and all I've been using are the pharmacy +2 mag glasses to read fine print. I probably need glasses again, but n othing like I had previously.

It absolutely changed my life for the better. To wake up and not have to put on glasses to get to the bathroom was a wonder. And anything in water, or sports of any kind, without glasses was a dream.

One tip, relax while they do the procedure and hold your eyes as still as possible. Pretend you have a sniper rifle and are about to shoot your worst enemy. Open, still, don't blink, don't twitch....

I know they imobolize your eyes, but any movement means the zap goes somewhere it isn't supposed to. Steady, calm, don't even think.

Good luck.

U can buy a laser from the store for $2. Just shine that baby in each eye for 45 minutes and you will have perfect sight. It only works though if you do it for exactly 45 minutes to the second. Any longer or shorter and it don't work.

Another fool proof method if you don't want to Fuck around with the laser is to close your eyes, take your fingers and press on your eyes with firm but not over powering pressure. Eventually it will hurt but just fight through it. Do this for 20 minutes, 5 times a day for a month.

I had my eyes done in '99. Best thing since sliced bread. My glasses were as thick as the bottom of a soda bottle. He did it so one eye was not 20-20 so that I could read without reading glasses as long as I had plenty of light. A couple of years back my reading vision improved so much I could read the menu in a dark restaurant. Unfortunately, I couldn't see shit driving at night. Especially if it was raining. Lo and behold the laser surgery wasn't to blame. No sir, cataracts. Had them operated on last fall and now I see as good as I ever did. Modern medicine is not to be scoffed at. It works miracles. Ask my mitral valve.

Right? I need a lens. Definitely a miraculous age of modern medicine.

Imagine what we could accomplish if everyone had access to it.

So it's been 5 days since the procedure, and I feel I'm about 90% recovered. Totally worth it, should of done it long ago.

So this is my experience:
I get there a little before noon. The place is packed, no place to sit. I sign in and go back to my car for about 15 minutes. Go back in. Wait another 20 minutes. Finally get called back. They go over everything again quickly. I finally get the ok to take a Valium. Go to another waiting room, 3 people ahead of me. Wait there for about 40 minutes to let the pills kick in, I took three total.

Finally they take me back. I lay flat on a comfy surgical bed. I'm doped up and feel pretty comfortable.
The whole thing took about 10 minutes, but it was pretty damn uncomfortable. Maybe I'm a pussy, idk. Basically this is exactly what it felt like. I'm laying there;high, they've already been putting numbing drops in my eyes, so I'm laying there. Next thing I know he says "Look down". Then it felt like like he duct taped the top of my eye lid open very firmly. Then said look up, taped the bottom. Continuously adding drops. Everything was a blur. Then it felt like he got his elbow and started pressing down pretty hard on my eye ball. I was fully conscious, and pretty uncomfortable, and as he's pressing down, my sight goes black for about 10 seconds. Then he releases pressure, and I can see a blur almost instantly. Slowly vision becomes a bit more clear. Then he takes out whatever clamps, pulls off the tape, and im done with eyeball number one. So same thing, then I'm outta there in about twenty more minutes. My brother drives me home. Few hours go by. Pain meds ware off, I'm in pretty bad pain. Probably about a 7 and a half, maybe 8. I take some Tylenol and xanax, finally end up dozing off. Wake up the next day, no pain what so ever. Just very dry and irritated feeling. My left eye seemed to be crystal clear, right eye still a bit blurry, but way better. After about four days my right eye started seeing clearly, and now it's freaking awesome.

I went in for a check up earlier today. They said all looked well, and I should be back to 100% in about 3 more weeks and to just continue being generous with the eyes drops for the next couple weeks.
So when I see through each eye individually, I see 20/20. When I see through both eyes, i can see 20/15. Had I paid an additional 500 per eye, they said they could've gotten it down to 20/10...

So that's pretty much it. I'm very happy with the outcome. The place is called the lasik vision institute. 899 per eye, just mention the Groupon discount.

Oh yeah I'll also add I had to buy two different eye drops at the pharmacy totaling almost 200$. But I also have no insurance.

How long did you ware glasses/contacts?
I've worn glasses for 45yrs. only considered lasik for few min.

I'm scared if I had lasik I would not recognize myself in the mirror.
^That and I'm too cheap to pay for the procedure.
I've been wearing glasses since the ninth grade, and I'm 33 now. So it's been like dam near twenty years I think.. I've never worn contacts because of a stigmatism, and because of that they said I had virgin eyes and that would make the procedure even easier with a better likely outcome.
So the whole thing has just been a pretty good experience for the most part. I would definitely recommend it.

My procedure was certainly less uncomfortable. I joked with them as they were doing the procedure; "hey- is that ME I smell burning?" LMAO

My left didn't come out as well as my right eye, and of course it's the right eye that had the detached retina and lingering issues from treatment.
