Do we need more information on seed packs?

Seriously? If you're new to growing and work Google for half a minute the information is there and available. You can't bitch about the lack of info and not know about Seedfinder.

I love how newcomers want to play up the victim card acting like there's some old guard keeping you down but what's funny is you're so new half of you wouldn't know wtf they would want to grow if they did have all the details that you pretend are hiding from you.

And you keep talking about the future of the industry as though you're experienced yet you're someone who's not even bought his first pack? Unreal.
And as monetarily and time invested I am, I can promise you I am here for the future of the industry. Sorry bud.

With legalization there will be( and is) a flood of new growers and likely more than there was in the first place.
A lot of these guys and gals grow veggies already and are used to the info on the packs.
They don't hang on ig or "ride with anyone's crew" and could care less about "rep"
If I'm a breeder I'm getting my sales and promo ready for them instead because they will decide who has a business in the end.
I'm part of a new market of consumers that purchase on basis of info and salesmanship and all the if callouts in the world will not influence my decision over cold hard factual info.

It's far from legal in my area, it's still possible to have new comers that aren't apart of this demographic you apparently hate.

As far as the packs themselves go I don't need much more than a date and genetics used.

As far as info offered up from the breeders? Yeah, there's more than a few that are less than transparent when it comes to their approach to "breeding". They purposely leave out info regarding selection process, testing, etc. They seem better at marketing than "breeding". And they count on people jumping on the hype train.

If ya cant find the info you seek from a breeder whether on IG or their home pages you can always check the forums. There's plenty of legit growers here who've offered up their time posting unbiased detailed grow reports.

What it all boils down to is people will rather shame you then help you in this shit. If I can't help you imma damn sure try my best to point you in the right direction. It doesn't matter how long you been doing this or that we all can bring something to the table. That's why I don't hesitate in asking questions. I done met some dudes on this site that done helped me so damn much that I should be giving them my weed. But it's all love. So if you can't help that person point them in the direction where they can get that help instead on trying to belittle them. Bless up and grow trees!!!
Yep. More concerned with stroking their ego than actually offering help.

The problem is there are only a very very small amount that are actually breeding. IMO less than 5 that i know of. Everyone else is pollen chucking and they dont have any info to give other than the strains they used.
True true but it would be nice to know if they at least selected the males they use. Or even if the cuts they use are the real deal.
I would imagine going by what little info is posted for say a chem, cookie, or an OG at seedbanks like Attitude could get confusing for new growers. There are too many trying to reformulate a strain and playing the "name game"

These guys can't get mad when we call them chuckers when they all seem like chuckers who can't even tell me how the male performs. Still baffles me how you have a cross like:

Pnw dogshit x faceoff $100 but was $50 few months ago when available
Pwn dogshit x dosidos, $200 (120 thanks to Greenline) & still available, doubt they will sell out.

1st crosss has descriptions 2nd cross which seems like a complete chuck of course has nothing. I don't care if the seeds are F1 to 1000 I want to at least know how the shit they grew, grew & smoked. A few words is fine the right keywords can make or break a buy between those with descriptions.

I think exotic genetix has the best packaging, just a simple description of everything including terps but I guess if you don't grow your chucks out you won't know that info.

At least with Archive we know he's been around for more than a min and put the work in, but I totally get what you're saying.

It seems as though those who've purchased the strains get more defensive about the word chucker than the actual "chucker", lol.
How many times have we seen people get jumped on for posting honest grow reports that may not be "glowing" and yet those that haven't even brought the seed to completion can harp on an on hyping the brand and they get a pass because newer growers don't really know any better yet

You made the perfect comparison.I have grown a bunch of strains from exotic genetix. As you said he has great packaging with flower time, terp description, etc. I have yet to grow a plant from him that matches exactly what is described on the package. The flower time may be close, but the smell is completely off, and vise versa....but he is one of my favorite breeders b/c i have gotten more fire from his packs than anyone else seed for seed. Now when it comes to archive, there is some info out there, but not on the packs. I have only just started digging into my archive seed stash, but the uniformity among plants is up there with Dynasty. The structure of the males and females were identical in both strains i grew, a few males tricked me and made it to the flower room only to laugh at me. Based n what i saw from actually growing strains from both breeders, the archive strains seemed to actually have the most work put in, but exotics appeared to have the most work put in based on packaging. At this point in the legalization game if you're new, you're gonna have to put your time in and do your research.

Its not a knock on quality or even questioning it but for that price difference it better come with a manual even if I have to look it up online lol. More often than not the manual to these plants come from the growers who pay & give free advertising.

The opposite for me with Archive & while I found one of my best smokes in almost every category it was 1 out of 7 different phenos. From one of the loudest skunkiest plants to one that had 0 smell, short & potent was a wide pheno swing even had a foxtailer. I still had a general idea of the plant from Archives description or at least the one to look out for.

I've gotta pop my Exotic, Guice & Extreme Cream.

Exactly. I bet we have different grow styles. I bet we use different mediums. I bet we use different lights. I bet we have different environments. If there are 2 growers growing the same shit x 8 million variables = different results. It doesn't matter what the pack of seeds says.....anything can happen.

Anything can happen so I might as well grow my own chucks from the best plants out of the crapshoot lol where they are created & grown in same environment. Seems like that would lead to more stability imo.

For me the whole point of buying is to find genetic tidbits to add to my stock, or start something new.
But any good breeder will tell you you can make fire from bagseed.
Look at chemdog for chrisakes.
If they don't want to share what they did to get it, then there's no point buying it.
Check out pua mana seeds, they have tons of info, show obvious pride in their product.
No info on em here but the website tells us everything we need to know.

There are much used seedbanks that don't include info freely available from their breeders. Not even listing the known genetics is just not the service expected from a first rate business. A bit more customer consideration would be nice and would increase sales for sure.

I wasn't going to bump this thread for my final comments but since hillbill posted I feel its fair game.

How many of us when looking at a pack of seeds say "Yep I'll buy it right now" without looking deeper into the genetics, grow logs and pics around the net? I bet 99% of us take in all the information about a certain strain that we can before buying. Is this a bad practice? Obviously it isn't or we wouldn't do this religiously before every purchase. Why does more information matter on seed/strains? The long and short of it.......time. Instead of scouring the internet for all the information that ISP provides with their seeds, or bumbling around in the dark as you try to figure out the plants likes and dislikes so you have a decent grow. How many times have we heard that "Chems are Cal Mag whores"? Well if all you've grown up that point are plants that took all you threw at it then when running a chem you just might run into a problem where your leaves are yellowing and if you applied you method of taking them off a chem like you would a regular plant you're used to dealing with then you'll watch as the next set of leaves starts to yellow, then another and another as you pick them off. The plant is eating itself but all you know up until now is that yellowing indicates a dying leaf. Now that's not an all inclusive answer either. Chems also don't like a lot of water so I'd find that important to know as well. Time = money and I'd rather have all the information available at the time of purchase then trying to chase it down on the internet.

TL;DR Saves time (Inception? :P)

Well put, and I don't get how anyone who disagrees actually cares about the future of the industry.

Edit: and before you come at me with being new to the industry, it dosnt take experience to understand the logic in this.

Its A cannabis Plant. Do you want the breeder to hold your Hand..

Learn how to grow thats it.

Grow logs? Grow logs? A seed pack is perhaps 3 x 3 inches. What info does a person that grows expect on all that?

The Job of the breeder is to provide you with seed stock. Its not his job to hold your hand and say; this plant needs this, it needs that.

My God start with the basic NPK values and go from there and adjust or Is growing that hard for you actually.

There is over 20 years of information on chem type plants / thai type plants / stativas and indica's.

Long and Short Learn to grow or get Left behind.

The breeders are not here to Hold your hand. Their here to give you a creation that otherwise you would not have. Its simple..

Funny thing is these plants and plants in general have been on earth from the start OF time, so what do now you think the process has changed..

People I tell you ..
