Phrase I am absolutely tired of hearing:

What I'm saying is I don't believe there's a difference between couch lock weed or any other types, just the same way people believe whiskey drunk is different than wine drunk, in my opinion its not. It comes down to the amount of THC/CBD. Maybe its more complex than that, aka multiple types of THC or w/e. Either way my belief is the same. List the potency. Sell the flavor.

What?
You make it sound like all weed highs are the same.

Unless you mean it it more complicated than couch lock and uplifting weed.

There are many different types of highs. Some make you stuck like chuck some makes you pace some makes you laugh.

There are for sure many different highs.

...I disagree?

Whether I laugh or pace or sit on my couch is entirely dependent on my mood, not what I smoke. The most I can agree on is that when a strain is real real strong then I'm more likely to get stoned enough to not want to move, but that can happen if I smoke a ton of a weaker strain all the same.

There are some that I don't smoke due the anxiety (White Russian), there are some that give me a body stone that is akin to a whiskey drunk (master lush). There are different effects from different strains.

im going to make the assumption that your in good health and smoke weed recreationally

if you where suffering from illness youd find out quick the differences

You are a new smoker then.

Sure mood plays a role but its much more strain dependant. You are the only person I ever known to say otherwise.

It comes down to the 60+ cannabinoids and how they interact. Terpenes even play a role.

I don't like indicas. Most make me sluggish and I don't want to do anything. I like sativas for the energy. I really like the long flowering ones. 16+ week strains. They really have complex highs.

I've actually stopped smoking a few months ago but I smoked 24/7 for about 12 years until that. All I can say is I would put my money on y'all not passing a blind smoke test. It'd be interesting to try.

if you where able to remove the differences in flavor, smell, and taste to remove all other notable distinctions or differences to be able to do a blind smoke comparison between say 6 or 8 different plants, in an attempt to identify or label on strain from another

no I wouldn't be able to identify one pot from another by name in every case or even most cases, so I don't completely disagree with the concept of it being over rated to some degree, thru marketing

there was a time when many of us would have been happy with some good basic Mexican or Columbian or northern lights and that was few and far between ... these days its like a buffet so we get real picky and make more out of it cuz we can and cuz its fun

but there have been plenty of times ive grown varieties that felt completely different from anything else id ever smoked

I grew out a cheese variety one time that made my head feel like it was being squeezed every time I smoked it, it wasn't for me

I got some Tahoe I just smoked that makes me drop dead exhausted..if i smoke it during the day im guaranteed to nap

I got some satori that makes me a chatty sally and is a great day time smoke

I smoked something down in florida 20 years ago they called crippy and I couldn't lift the fork to my mouth to eat and I was completely non functional.. friends said I was drooling
(strangely DNA just put something up claiming to be just that crippy florida something ocean weed i think he called it )

but I can also say in many cases the differences are subtle or at least too subtle to distinguish

but when your suffering from an alignment of one type or another, you find out real fast which plants give you relief and which don't

you've really never experienced one pot making you super hungry every time you smoke it over some other

Again...it all depends on my mood. I could buy an ounce of some top shelf, and it wouldn't make me hungry every time I smoked it. I'd go through all the moods and it ultimately would depend on how much I smoked, out of what, and how I felt that day.

As for my test, naming a strain just from smoking it would be nearly impossible just from factoring in different grow conditions. But more specifically, I wish I could take 100 stoners and get their reports on how a few different strains made them feel. I wouldn't be entirely suprised if there were reoccuring answers but I also wouldn't be suprised if the same strain that one stoner swears makes him couch locked is the uppity high for another.

also, btw

i do feel different when drinking wine vs whiskey

or even red vs white

Aaaand there it is :P Call me a skeptic I guess heh.

You're allowed to think that and it might even be true, but I hope we can at least agree that its a good thing the wine bottles don't sell you on the different types of drunk. How would that even go?

right

but if you had irritable bowel syndrome, tremors, seizures, constant nausea
or any other of 100 health issues
you might feel differently

Well, I don't know the science that goes into medicinal marijuana besides THC vs CBD, THC being the 'fuck you up' part and CBD being the pain reliever etc. I do know I used to work with a guy who was in a wheel chair until he started smoking. What you're implying is closer to a medicines side effects, which have been lab tested and reported on whereas I'm talking about marketing gimmicks. If there were legitimate studies done on certain strains with reported 'side effects' I'd be more inclined to believe. Regardless, for recreational sales, I'd still prefer to leave the effects out of it.

I wouldn't disagree that marketing gimmicks like to make false claims, absolutely!
I can see myself also becoming frustrated with that crap for sure

the hydro fertilizer industry is one of the very worst of them for that

but I wouldn't discount the benefit of medicinal varieties completely because of that hype

Indeed the two have nothing to do with each other.

I never meant to imply that medicinal varieties don't have medicinal benefits. Not even a little. I would be skeptical to say "this strain cures back pains" and "this strain cures headaches". I'd be willing to guess that the CBD in cannabis has a general pain reliever effect if studied appropriately. I'm sure it will change for different people.

When I bought legal cannabis in Colorado, the budtender told me "this is a fun strain that will make you feel like playing frisbee or going out on a jog" to give my distaste for marketing some perspective.

I got some pot that cures erectile dysfunction if anybody needs it...lmao
and I got some they call Spanish fly for the ladies too lmao
