Does Linux have an event log?
It is very handy on Windows systems for troubleshooting & asynchronous tools.

Yup location depends on your installation. I run fedora now (https://getfedora.org/), started running it when it was RedHat with version 5.2 in grad school.Does Linux have an event log?

You can do that using the Live CD's for Fedora as well and many other distros, you don't even have to burn a CD, you can create a bootable USB drive. I've found the entire linux community to be fairly kind.Well FWIW most Debian based versions of linux will let you run it live from the CD/DVD using RAM. That way you can try as many different distros as you like. I really enjoyed Mepis and the community back then had infinite patience in helping new users, without the typical RTFM attitude. Really not sure how current it is at the moment.
It can be useful to get access to a Windows drive and delete stubborn files or viruses. Ask questions and I will try to help you.

Someone opened a few credit card accounts in my name and after the charges were written off, I decided to keep the fraud alert active at the credit reporting agencies. This makes it extremely difficult for anyone to steal my identity and open new accounts. The craven fuckers: So I checked, "doesn't appear that you've been compromised", then "sign up for premium service and protection"
read down in Kreb's article, different responses mobile vs. laptop! The craven fuckers: So I checked, "doesn't appear that you've been compromised", then "sign up for premium service and protection"
Was getting the same on my laptop, was an upgrade to Win 10 and not a clean install. Got sick of stutters, putters and farts as it hiccuped its way through things so yesterday it was back up the important stuff and then the mofo got formatted and a clean install of Windows was done. As usual, the difference was VERY noticeable with the startup time cut in half.I think it's time to take a look at Linux. My windows 10 system is slooooooow.
What's the best way to ramp up on Linux? Are there good tutorials describing how to customize the install?
