Kids can not be trusted to the degree you say they can. Not even yours.

Not even adults. Shit happens.

Also seems most of the mass shooters had a background full of guns. And a good education on how to use them.

Please lock up your guns and ammo and preferably separately. Especially if you want to promote ownership rather than deregulation.

Otherwise you are the enemy of gun rights.
That's the major problem with gun nuts and NRA assholes: they all have rights but no responsibilities.

I've read your posts and you are unjustifiably confident. Kids are kids and parents don't always know what's going on. You'll find out the real story in about 20 years. But that's beside the point.

Nothing you say about how wonderful you kids are addresses the fact that the US has an extraordinarily high rate of unnecessary accidental injury from guns in the home. What you describe in your own home is duplicated a million times over and in some of those homes we see tragedy. Every day, not just once in a while.

Gun owners need to step up their safety practices for storing their weapons in a manner that makes it impossible for a kid to access them without adult supervision. What you describe might seem fine to you today but you haven't experienced a loss. I hope you don't, I hope you remain ignorant, but you aren't taking enough precautions to prevent it.

Yeah I’m not going to agree with such an ignorant blanket statement. Plenty of responsible gun owners and NRA members too.
That wasn't a blanket statement. He said gun nuts and NRA assholes. A blanket statement would have been to say everybody who owns a gun or some such. I think his statement was a bit over the top, as Taco tends to do but it wasn't ignorant. The problem is with gun nuts and NRA assholes, not every gun owner.

I have no need for a hand gun anymore. I have been off chemicals for almost 20 years and live violence free with Mrs. MMG and our garden out in the woods.

I don’t even hunt so I don’t have a rifle either.

An intruder at close range is a hand to hand combat situation anyway. And there are weapons (and experience) available. Just not firearms.
did you get rid of your guns all in one day?

He wrote it in a way that includes non nuts and non assholes. I think it shows his true feelings about it.

And I don’t agree. How bout you let him defend himself?

Because my disagreement was with you. It was just one sentence. How can you get it so wrong?

Still, we agree about some things. Such as, I don't need a gun, don't want a gun, don't feel the need of one for my protection. I don't want gun owners to lose their rights to own guns, I just want them to take ownership for improving gun safety.

I do hunt but without a firearm. I dive and spear fish. That spear gun is stored in a locked cabinet and the firing mechanism is stored elsewhere.

Why?

I have only owned one legal rifle and I sold it before I left Colorado 10 years ago but that was almost 10 years after I quit chemicals and carried a gun. And one under the seat in my car. Those guns have been gone since about 1998.

I grew up in jersey. That’s where I was a young drug user/dealer.

I used to do a lot of business with cops and bikers in Atlantic City. It is a dangerous town.

Very cool that you dive. I wanted too when I lived in Florida but have bad sinuses and the pressure bothered me a lot. Just snorkeling when I dove deep for a minute even hurt my ears pretty bad. Just like the bottom of the deep end of the pool when I was a sniffly kid.

As far as the statement taco made. I think many will see it the way I did. It reads that way.

If he meant differently he will defend himself.

You guys don’t like to be called out like you all do to others huh? I’m pretty sure you know which members I am referring to.

Probably don’t like to be put into a group like I just did either.

I didn't feel called out. I'm just saying your reading comprehension is lacking. I'm not grouping you, I'm saying you read it wrong. Think of it as an opportunity to improve yourself.

Some people can't equalize their ears easily enough to comfortably dive and it sounds like you have that. Florida has some really nice places for snorkeling. A lot can be seen from the surface. Michigan is a completely different situation. Have you ever thought of trying to fish from your kayak? That's a big deal in some places.

I live in Oregon, which is awful in terms of visibility and weather. It keeps the competition out of the water, so there is that. The game is plentiful, including Dungeness crab, clams and fish but most don't want to deal with the conditions. Mine, all mine.

I don’t fish but many do from their kayaks. They make fishing specific ones with rod and even depth finder mounts.

I would rather take pictures than fish or hunt.

And I would say the statement was easily misunderstood rather than blame my comprehension. But I believe he meant what I challenged still.

Just like my dad said if you cant.trust your self to have a loaded weapon in ready to fire condition in bear country

You shouldnt be there nor should you own a gun

I think this is the last of my contributions to this thread :)

just wondering if you had a flash sign or just didnt feel the need to own anymore?

I'm imagining owning/using illegal guns for criminal use/protection may put signs up
quicker/slower than a fine cherished collection from yesteryear stored, fired safely occasionally.

I've known thugs that have come to the same conclusion as you but I never knew a responsible
owner/collector/shooter to come to the same ends.

I know you're not a thug anymore silly, you cool now, no judgements, just convo.

I have said it before i know my kids are perfectly fine with guns around.

If i was unsure i would lock them.

They don't do that not the smart ones anyways

you only need to be unsure one time, then your kid is dead, oops, be safer to error on safe side, and

at least its just the dumb kids shooting each other making yours appear smarter...... thats some bad ego harry.
Keep in mind these children are being raised by a guy
who's convinced himself, contrary to every responsible firearm instructions universally taught...
that its safe to leave loaded guns in a childs reach..

remember...your kids are plain stupid compared to some others, even

chew on that for a bit, no offense intended. I care for the safety of your family as well as the ill reputations
your choices have cast on other firearm owners.

be safe(er)
