Control of the number of licences and size of "farms" so there isn't the mad free-for-all Colorado has just had?

After all, quality over quantity will be likely to keep prices, and therefore revenue, higher.
Quality isn't going to keep the price from plummeting. There is plenty of quality weed. Anyone that has any experience with agriculture can grow quality marijuana. Marijuana is not hard to grow. A flooded market is a flooded market. Pretty soon that flood will all be "Quality" weed. If it's all quality and people keep growing more and more the price will continue to go down. You can grow the best weed in the world and there is still no guarantee that you'll make a decent profit. With all the edibles and concentrates being sold it doesn't matter if the weed has "Bag Appeal" or is 20+% THC. It can all get used even the bad. I know many people that don't smoke flower but instead buy cartridges. There is a growing trend towards methods of ingestion other than smoking. The average consumer just wants to catch a buzz. They don't care what the bud looked like before being incorporated into edibles or made into concentrates. It's easy to get involved in the small details about cannabis growing, strain, potency, etc... on forums like this. But most people don't care.

The million or so pounds of surplus marijuana in Oregon will be substantially larger by October when outdoor harvest comes in. Then add in all the large indoor grows cranking it out as fast as they can and there is no possible way that the price won't keep going down. Also, the four plants you can grow is plenty for most people to never have to buy weed again taking customers away from the dispensaries where all that marijuana has to be sold.

It don't have to be sold there, screw those guys anyway. But that shit kicks the black market too... Colorado's rec law basically disabled a lot of Cali's weed moving east.

Yet there's a medical facility, complete with a politically connected holder of a Ph.D. running it right there in your city.
Fuck no. you should see the forms you need to fill in to buy, grow or distribute weed. Without friends in high places, this isn't happening for the average person apart from a very narrow field of medical reasons.

I probably qualify, but I just don't have the energy to deal with these kinds of idiots.
I sometimes get a nasty feeling when I see on my pension slip I am classified as critically ill after my heart attack. I mean, I don't feel great, but I don't feel like I'm dying either.

There's no natural reason why cannabis can't be $1 a gram, just regulatory ones.

Let anyone in who wants to play, let competition sort out those who can grow a quality product and manage a business from those who can't.
because if everybody's allowed to play then that could upset the advantage the wealthy already have. Wouldnt want that now.
nobody with money wants to be shown up by the guys who just know what they're doing and started from the bottom.

No kidding. Want proof? Look at Canada's 'legalisation'.

Ronald Reagan's great economic 'innovation' was to lower taxes on the rich and break unions.

Strangely enough, American's average wages haven't risen ever since, while income and wealth inequality have exploded.

It's not a coincidence but what's even weirder is that neither party will discuss these basic facts, let alone the glaringly obvious solution.
Personally I just had to stop thinking about it. I think the whole things fucked and its gonna remain fucked long after i'm gone if it doesnt implode on itself before then. Just....gotta worry about what I can control.

Meanwhile, support progressive candidates who want to reverse Citizens United, Buckley v Valeo and tax corporations wealthy individuals higher rates than wage earners.

That's what I said all along. All this maintenance free outdoor weed trimmed with machines isn't going to be smoked by connesseurs. It is going to be raw ingredient for some other cannabis product. Conesseurs want to smoke sweet tasting high quality weed that has been lovingly cared for. It will all shake out in the end. All the regulators still think people are going to be growing marajuwana. They are still stuck in the 70's. There will always be a small percentage of smokers that will only smoke high quality cannabis. Hopefully that small percentage will be enough to keep a few quality growers in business.

Hence what I said about restricting the number of licences and size of grows, not having the free-for-all that Oregon had where the outcome was obvious.

It was the first sentence, I thought you would have seen it before you picked up on the rest.

The part about "control the number" "and size" .

Who decides? That sounds like regulation. I'm for total legalization. Complete decriminalization. Regulations get in the way of that.

I agree 100%. Less government intrusion the better.

If you do it this way, then the richest get to be first in line. That doesn't seem fair somehow.

It would seem a union could be formed and some prices fixed... but I live in the stix so these real problems haven't hit me.

Then you have to accept the race to the bottom and only the survival of the large corporates.

You do it right by talking and planning with EVERYONE with an interest and you can find compromises that protect the little guy.

Go for complete deregulation, bad for everyone as only mass produced shite survives.

There is a middle ground.
