Manafort trial predictions

Defense rests without calling a witness, closing arguments tomorrow. My take is that he is guilty of tax evasion but given the political nature of this trial, the jury composition may be the deciding factor. I'll predict a hung jury if it goes to the jury. I suppose a last minute plea deal could still be reached if he wants to provide some dirt on Trump.

The defense complained yesterday that not only did they throw the kitchen sink at Manafort but the plumbing and pipes too:P

No way he walks best case a mistrial or a Dotard pardon
dotard pardon that might not come..doesn't look good if he expects 2020.

the message is: okay to cheat the government..shitty slogan..that there's two kinds of justice. he MAY pardon on his way out..if I were him, I wouldn't count on it.

he's going crazy with the tweeting becoming more unhinged..seriously.

Tax evasion and that's it? CNN told me for months that is was Manafort-Trump campaign collusion with Russia.

Defense snuck in a comment that the trial was politically motivated. Judge asked jury to disregard. We will see. Manafort will be tried in federal court next, maybe that will be the Russia connection?

No not tax evasion and that's it

This was exclusively the financial fraud stuff.

Paul has another trial scheduled to start in mid-September for money laundering, failing to register as a foreign agent lobbying for Ukraine.

Paul's current charges are largely unrelated to the 2016 election. Those could still come.

I'm not sure how CNN got you all mixed up sport.

What does the outcome whatever it may be matter? The corruption will still continue. The lobbying, rather bribery and extortion, won't stop. The ones who he works for will never go to jail, ever. While living a lavish lifestyle beyond anything you could imagine.

If it includes just all lobbyists, I don't see that as a problem. How can you complain about one lobbyist, but not all? The whole concept is wrong. A lobbyist is a lobbyist. Every single last one of them should be strung up, and the activity banned completely.

When the media showcases one type of lobbyist as bad, it puts forth a narrative lobbyist aren't bad, just some. Nope. All of them are.

By that logic, why should we bother prosecuting any crime?

Keep dreaming of jury nullification, Buggy.
I have no skin in the outcome. Just curious if identity politics has corrupted this trial. If the eyes of justice are blind, odds are very good he is convicted. I think his only chance of escaping conviction is the political argument. Do you think Hillary or Trump could be convicted of anything by a politically diverse jury? I don't. Just like if I'm on a jury for some dude being prosecuted for growing weed, the dude is getting off. So it goes.
