Do you guys defoliate your autos? If so when is it ok to do? Also should I avoid defoliation if I’m getting a little nutrient burn?

Would love to post a pic of my last plants but they were sativa and I got all paranoid and deleted my pics. Not doing that àgain. We were out so I smoked bottom buds, didn't hurt it at all. Tied down branches to keep canopy flat so all got fairly equal light.

As soon as I notice they are done stretching 14-21 days'ish into flower I will remove EVERY leaf that has a stem that can be exposed by gently pulling down on the middle finger.

Pull expose snip. In 3-7 days the things will already have a lot of new leaves from the flower sites and most of those sites are now exposed if you kept up with a decent canopy structure.

This helps mitigate against stagnate air, overlapping, water condensing, mold, and allows for more light to reach more flower sites directly.

I use this same technique in veg, it's a way of topping without removing the top, simply clip the top most fastest growing fans and let the rest of the plant catch up, it can be a daunting task after a week or so of doing this because the plants will really really bush up.

*credit to GML GrandMasterLevel for being the first larger scale grower to demonstrate these techniques with efficacy.

Never take a leaf of that is green ,no need
I tried this way but I got PM because water got trapped between leaves ( I foliar spray sometimes) and became a perfect scenario for PM. The plant got bushy as hell too and the humidity where I live is 20-30% (outdoors). I agree with trimming up the plant for air movement around the plant. Cheers!

i remove everything under the scrog net and try tuck he rest of the leaves i don't like causing stress to my plants so i try not take many leaves off unless the plant is extremely bushy hen you kind of have to strip leaves to reduce humidity and mold risks

Theres a method I picked off the dude grow show. When you defoliate in flower pick off one or two leaves a day. Pick leaves that shade more mass than the entire leaf itself.

i much agree on doing that. never a good idea to strip the entire plant in one day
i will lollipop my plants over a week and only take a few hand full of leaves at a time
id imagine with a auto plant stressing it as little as possible would be a good idea
