when do i harvest/flush?

Fellow growers..any ideas/tips on choosing a harvest time without checking trichs as i have tool too at the moment and by the time i get one i fear i may have missed my window to flush. still very green at moment though no fade but havn't cut nutes yet i am first time grower not sure if this causes the fade or not , purps coming thru so i figiure thats some sign of maturing the strain is grandaddy purp. 80% if not more of the pistols are amber if that helps

You've done a damned fine job first off. But trich color is the best indication as to prime chop time. Even a good magnifying glass will do.

If you are unsure wait to a point when you're ready to cut them down and then feed them water only for another week.

Flushing is practiced by many many thousands of seasoned growers with combined thousands of years of actual field experience.

If you like feeding to the end, nobody will stop you.

Yea, never understood "flushing". Wasn't even til I got on forums that I heard of it.

Actually, makes about as much sense as chopping and then letting it sit in a bucket of water. Same difference.

I would rather use good water to wash the harvested bud.

Seems everyone wants to talk about flushing or LEDs lately lol... Flush if you've been using a lot of salty nutes, but from the looks of it, I don't think you overfed. Just give her some plain water and chop in a few days... Terrific first grow by the way.

Why though lol? If you cut nitrogen when you're supposed to, then just keep feeding to beef the bud. It's only harsh if it's loaded with nitrogen. I've made that mistake, a few times and definitely learned from it. Flushing though? That takes ALL the nutrients out that you need for bud building in those last couple days when they bulk up.

Whatever lol. Preference I guess.

No I agree - I just meant to say only flush if you think you've got a lot of salt buildup... And you're right about the N... I was wondering on these plants if the nitrogen was cut? Those leaves do still look pretty dark green. Or maybe that's just a genetic thing... AND, I guess ultimately you're right, even if there were lockout issues at harvest, flushing salts away right before harvest really won't make much difference right? Too late...

This is a really clever observation if you can transpose to other arenas it might help to inform of some answer the earlier question you asked.

Nobody did the celery as a kid with food coloring?

They should be swollen, done growing, when you're flushing. The growth is already done. People who think you need to feed to the end because you're missing growth are chopping well before the plant is 'done' at least to my liking. Feed to end if you chop early to mitigate yield losses. Flush at end if you like finished plants that taste great.

It's just advice, do what ya wanna do.

The growth still carries out after you chop, how else do you think the celery/food coloring works. Still uptake. Ever cloned? It's cut, still uptake.
