If you didn't find signs of mold in the buds I am saying we tested negative for bud rot. Now we are left with sudden top dye off and we don't suspect to close to the lights burning them since they were fine yesterday so for me that leaves root issues of some nature.

Omfg i said to myself last week these muthafkrs looked like they were bloated, i never considered them slowing down and taking less water as they finish up. I just kept plugging away with their regular waterings.

FML

What can i do to fix it?

You can over water coco, especially when the roots have packed the air spaces in the coco tightly. It's those air spaces that allow oxygen to the roots where soil compacts and doesn't allow for that.

Next run know that you need to look at longer intervals between watering starting somewhere around day 50. For now stop over watering and see what you get from this harvest, hopefully you caught it in time so they can finish properly. Are you dimming the lights, droping CO2 levels and such as you ripen?
No i havent done any of those things .lol

Im not running co2, just active intake and exhaust.

Should i drop temps down aswell?

I can dim lights now

For now you can reduce watering (longer time between watering). They may benefit from a heavy dose of tribus or something with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens in it.

Basically by torturing the roots you are promoting an early death so hopefully they ripen faster than they die.

I always drop CO2, dim lights and reduce temps during the last 2-3 weeks. I get better density and less foxtailing. Some people say I am silly but I get better yields and better quality. Too much light and heat and co2 in the ripening phase causes fluffy foxtailed buds IME.

I will def keep those tips in mind for next run for sure. I will slack back on the watering for now.

i got amber trics showing across every plant, so they are close. Should i just consider chopping them now before i run into more trouble?

I cant believe i never took into consideration them slowing down and taking less water.

At what PPFD reading do you dim your lights to? Currently I'm at about 850 with no co2 and I'm on day 45 of flower in a rdwc system @ 750ppm. If I dim lights in the coming weeks I should also drop ppms a bit?

In my experience once root rot sets in, and you have that kind of flower die back, recovery is damn near impossible. Thankfully you are near the end, so hopefully no biggy.

Edit: like renfro said, root rot likely due to over saturation of media as plants need less water near the end.

I've made the decision to chop everything tomorrow evening after work.

Hopefully I caught it fast enough

I've combed over all the plants and from what I can tell those few tops were tho only affected areas showing. So let's hope that was it

What light do you have those under? Do you have a veg tent? I'm looking to start a mother/veg/clone tent in a 2x4 and looking for ideas on which light would be perfect.
The babies are under a 6 bulb 4' t5 fixture

Ya hopefully it's no worse than what I caught. I'm chopping everything tomorrow

Here's the aftermath....13.3 lbs wet , only big tops with fans and stems removed.

The 2 boxes in the corner are all branches/buds that weren't big tops. I only keep big tops for smoking, everything else goes to extracts. Those boxes haven't been de leaved yet, too tired to do it tonight.

The boxes on the table are holding all the big keeper tops.

Still debating on whether to hang them on lines to dry or just use the bread trays like @Renfro uses.
