Are my girls fine? First grow, leaves seem to be facing down.

Hello everyone!

This is my first post so I hope I won't ask about obvious things, I tried searching but I'm still not sure if there is a problem or am I being paranoid. Both plants are autoflowers, Fast Eddy CBD from Royal Queen Seeds and Jack 47 Auto from Sweet Seeds.

I was away for around 3 days, and the humidifier which also helps with temps ran out of water for last ~12 hours. This brought the temps up to around 33C. The girls grew like crazy during those three days though – they had barely a second set of true leaves when I left, now they are at day 10 from breaking through soil and look like this:

Pics taken after 4 hours of darkness if that makes a difference.

I'm mostly worried about Jack 47 with the leaves pointing down. There is some slight curling on the edges on both plants as well, but I've seen multiple grows here with similar leaves in the early stages that were commented on as "looking great" so not sure if that's a problem.

I'm growing in BioBizz Lightmix soil with about 30% perlite added in. I water using 220PPM tap water, left in buckets for ~48h with PH brought down to 6.5. No nutes so far, but planned to start with 1/4 of recommended dosage of AN Grow, Bloom and Micro next watering

The light is 250W HPS (Osram PlantaStar DUAL), temps are around 23-27C (usually 25.5C) with 50-65% RH. Night temps around 19-22C.

Light was around 50cm above the canopy (even higher for seedlings), now I've lowered it to around 40cm. When I place my hand over the plants I feel pretty much zero heat, the mist from humidifier + wind from the fan provide a cool breeze.

The tent size is 60x60x160cm.

One thing to note, there is a small non-oscillating fan pointed directly at the plants pretty much 24/7. When I place my hand in front of the plant, the wind is pretty subtle but it makes the plants dance/shake a bit – is that a problem?

I don't think I'm over watering, they were only watered twice so far. I used easy plugs for germination and didn't water them for 3 days after the transplant because the plug was still pretty moist.

Sorry for the wall of text, but this being my first grow ever makes me stress about every little thing!

Hope I provided all the relevant info, looking forward to your replies.

Most people will use a HPS for flower because it's spectrum is more towards the red end whereas a MH is more towards blue. Not having a MH lamp is not a show stopper though. I think they look fine. They are evenly green and they are just babies. I picked up a cheap moisture meter that works fine for me to check dampness. I would be careful as to where the humidifier is pointed to make sure you aren't encouraging mold on the soil/plants.

Humidifier is good 25cm above the plants and the cold mist is directed to the corner where the fan is.

The relative humidity on the meter sitting right next to the Jack 47 is around 55-60% most of the time, a bit higher with lights off (~65-70%).

You're being paranoid. One of the most common ways for newer growers to mess up their plants is by trying to fix an issue that doesn't exist.

Thanks, won't try to fix anything then! Is it too soon to start feeding them diluted nutes?

I really like the Plantastar Dual(s), never really used a 250 personally, but I run a bunch of the 600(s) and 1k(s) and to me they out produce every other high-end (se) bulb that I have used. Other than that, the outer edge of a fan leaf rolling downward n' inward usually is a result of a great difference / range in ones humidity and temperature between the lights on and off cycles. Plants usually transpire pretty much the same amount of water during lights on and off, so when the lights are on the warmth of the lights help to more rapidly evaporate whatever water a plant is transpiring, but when the lights are off, the whole transpiring / evaporating process can slow to claw. Which usually causes the humidity in the grow area to spike. Which usually puts extra weight on fan leaf edges, making them roll downward n' inward. Anyhow, you can fix that easily, either by using a dehumidifier, and keep the humidity in your grow area at the same RH (%) whether the lights are on or off, or by keeping the same temperature in the grow area whether the lights are on or off!
