Make no mistake: Medicare for All would cut taxes for most Americans

Frankly that doesn't sound that good to me. I don't pay anything for mine, and it has a lower deductible than yours. I'd gladly trade it for Bernie's plan.
Well, that's good for me and sure as fuck better and cheaper than Bernie's plan

Yep, absolutely. This is how much my employer pays a month for each employee, depending on how big the family. This is times hundreds of workers. I've love to see them save that money, and have my union negotiate higher wages..

I'll remind you again, you are a minority being a union member. The majority of workers (I believe something like 90%) are not union.

There's not a chance in hell employers are going to just give their savings back to the employees

Honestly I can negotiate for myself better than I feel my union can negotiate for me, but that's my problem. I don't know why people think they wouldn't be able to negotiate this for themselves. Fear I guess. Then again, I am a former union negotiator.

How do you figure it's cheaper?
Well, have a look at Pad's green chart and let's compare -

Bernie's deductible = $5483
My employer provided deductible = $2000

I believe the deductible I have is less

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what does Bernie's plan cost per week/month/year?

I pay $48/week - $196/month - $2352/year

Maybe I missed it, but I doubt BernieCare4All will be less than what I pay now

@Padawanbater2 - dig up some estimated monthly/yearly payment numbers for us

One of the big benefits of universal healthcare is that some people like to jump the que. Which is why we have Private healthcare alongside public. This keeps the Private insurance polices really competitive as most people dont have it, they can afford it but they choose not to have it. Any increase in price is also Govt regulated- O yeah.

Disclaimer: im an Aussie and we have had Medicare since the 80's. It works. It aint perfect but its pretty damn good. Not sure how America will pull it off with the massive unemployment and homeless % though. Like weapons it seems to polarize and become all to late ( we tackled that already to). Just needs some common sense and some leadership.

I'm glad that you have something that works for you and that you seem satisfied with it

But....
I don't think it's realistic to compare America with any other country when it comes to healthcare, unless it has a similar population

America has a population of 300 million people

Australia has a population of 24 million people

In my opinion, there's no comparing the two and then saying, if they can do it so can we

Well China has a few people and they have been slowly rolling it out the last few years.

I dont think the number of people is the challenge. Cost is per person with the system if anything discounts start applying with larger numbers- like catering. Its the infrastructure. Majority of our hospitals here are Public. Private sectors normally rent the space their client takes up, its the same doctors in majority of cases anyway- same rooms in most cases to. Private health insurance is a profitable client of a public hospital. I dont believe u have that. Our whole infrastructure is based on Universal so its easy to profit off. Doctors associations have always backed it and come to its defense to so its a robust system IF it can be first established.

Yeah, I think you must have missed a lot and relying on a "green chart" someone posted, which you don't seem to understand, seems short sighted.

Both Medicare-for-all bills would eliminate cost sharing completely. This means no monthly premiums, no copayments for going to the doctor, and no deductible to meet before coverage kicks in.

The only place where enrollees might pay out of pocket is under the Sanders plan, which does give the government discretion to allow some charges for prescription drugs — but even that would be capped at $200 per year.

That deductible is more than you actually save lol

I'll pass on that and keep my employer provided health insurance -

BCBS
$48 a week for health, dental and vision
$30-40 copay (I can't remember exactly which, but in that range)
$2000 deductible

There's not a chance I'm going to let you and Bernie take that away from me
And this is why America sucks gentlemen. Everybody only really cares about themselves. Divide and conquer. Congrats! You're a winner and fellow man is a loser. Fck them right? Because you and your kids are so much more deserving.

The way I look at it, medicare for all works because it's FOR ALL, and that includes all the politicians. Don't you think if Moscow Mitch and Tronald Dump were forced to have the same health plan as you and me, they would make sure it was a decent plan?
You must be talking about federally funded universal healthcare. I was talking about Bernie's Medicare For All legislation that doesn't include enough detail for the OMB to estimate how much it will cost. Nor does it include how it will be paid for, including who will bear the increase in taxes.

I, like most Americans, agree that federally administered and paid for healthcare for everybody is a good idea. We expect better from our Congressmen than that unfinished vague piece of work by Bernie.

Absolutely. The two unions I belong to will make sure of it.
this should be our national anthem..what citizens were concerned about in 1978..i remember the simple words well- it amazes me it's the SAME:

Look for the union label
when you are buying that coat, dress or blouse.
Remember somewhere our union's sewing,
our wages going to feed the kids, and run the house.
We work hard, but who's complaining?
Thanks to the I.L.G. we're paying our way!
So always look for the union label,
it says we're able to make it in the U.S.A.!

citizens still wish to pay their way- if only allowed to with a living wage!

At least most major motion pictures are still union. Makes me wonder how the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has held on all these years. Oh yeah, it's called solidarity. Look for the union bug..

So everyone having their taxes raised to pay for M4A isn't cost sharing?
