Take your ezcloner and fill it to the bottom of manifold sprayer. Pour half cup plain bleach in it per every 3 gallons of water. Run it for 20 minutes. Pour out the bleach water and fill back up with plain water. Run another 20 minutes and pour that out. Now fill it up again to bottom of manifold but this time add 20ml per 3 gallons of water with Clear Rez and add 10ml of clonex solution not gel. Put a small 20w fluorescent light 12inches above it. Run pump 24/7 but make sure water temp is below 75f, I like 70f. Change water every 2 weeks doing the bleach cleaning each time. This will keep the slime away and roots will happen.@nurrgle
I do have a heat mat.
@BobBitchen
I have an ezcloner and kept getting slime, ph fluctuations... nothing but problems but I will try the 30/30 timing. I haven’t tried that on off schedule yet. When pumps run 24/7 I get soft stems even with Heisenbergs tea recipe.
@Bernie420
i don’t used softened water in my patio misters. I have a res with ro water but the hard water ruined my ro system. Patio misters are great!!! Unless the ro system fails. I did put a low ppm advanced nute veg solution mixed with a little of Heisenbergs tea. 9 days since taking cuts the plants have gone crazy with new growth. AN nutes are ph balanced to 6. I only opened to check progress of one and take a pics. When can I take cuts again?
When you mention not taking a cutting with a hollow stem, is it because they won't root well or is it because of the potential of an embolism. Also, with scissors I gently scrape the first layer of tissue off the bottom half inch of one side on the stem and dip in clonex gel (optional but speeds things up).
Never try to root cuttings that have hollow stems, just won't work.
Take cuts above where the stem starts to become woody.
If the stem is soft I use a nail to pre-poke the hole in the rapid rooter, I stick the cuts in almost but not all the way to the bottom.
i don’t mind taking cuts again one more time just cuz I’m trying to grow a wide bush but sure would be nice to get a harvest going haven’t had a good nights sleep in months.I guess when you get enough plant to take the cuts.
I think the mother plant is low on mag.
Tea actually saved my hydro setup, ezcloner too. You are right though some teas have kelp which causes problems. Compost tea in a box is no good for hydro. If I add too much of any tea it causes slime. I tested it. Added 2 gallons of tea and it only took a day to kill them.I would suggest that you're getting slime from adding a tea to your cloner. Organic material is causing/feeding your slime & the damping off.
IMHO, you should only use non PH'd tap water. The small amount of chlorine or chloramine helps fight against pathogens .
PH is not important when cloning , no roots no feeding.
A healthy mother plant & patience is what is most important.
I've used the same Clone King for about 8yrs now with almost 100% success, 10 - 14 days, & they're ready to transplant.
good luck.

I just noted they had a very low percentage of rooting. As long as I avoided the hollow stem cuts I would almost never have one that failed to root quickly and well. When you mention not taking a cutting with a hollow stem, is it because they won't root well or is it because of the potential of an embolism.
I'm curious because one practice I rarely see mentioned is to take the fresh cutting and dip it in water then cut a small piece off the end of the stem and leave it submerged in water.
It's been a while since I read about it but felt this would be a good habit to avoid an air bubble being trapped in the stem.
Teas in your hydro grow may be fine. But they are of new use when "cloning", your cutting aren't feeding, so the only thing a tea does in your cloner is invite slim.i don’t mind taking cuts again one more time just cuz I’m trying to grow a wide bush but sure would be nice to get a harvest going haven’t had a good nights sleep in months.

General consensus seams to be healthy moms, healthy clones. I guess the question now is should I throw out the clones I have and take new ones?
Put a shut off valve and a faucet on a new line off the main water line before it gets to the softener.Well, you all have beautiful setups for clones I wish I had the capability. My ambient humidity is extremely low. The humidistat on our furnace has been dead for ages. I figured the reason why I had trouble adding water and getting rot in the cubes or an extremely fast dry out was because of an ambient humidity problem. So I built this a while back (pic).
what you’re seeing is
- a 3x3 tent
-Custom self filling from ro Humidifier
-Lizard heat lamp w/ 2 fans to prevent over heating
- 2x 2bulb t5 lamp
-space for 2x clone trays with 2x heat pads under the trays
- 4” exhaust fan turns on twice a day
- humidity is set to 70% and temp 78•F
ive had bad luck scrapping the stem not sure how to do it. I don’t get slime with the tea I use 1/3 cup for my 16 site added every 3days per Heisenberg. I can’t use tap water because of softener salt. The tea isn’t for the plants, it’s only for the slime. It’s the only reason I’ve had any luck in the ez cloner.
the current issue with the ezcloner is I think the clones are getting over sprayed with water. Not sure if my moms were healthy though. I have healthy moms now so I think it’s time for another test.
the plant in the front is Kandy kush it flowers in 7 weeks, the one in back is strawberry banana. I think KK will root faster because it veg and flowers the fastest.
does anyone recommend a video on stem scrapping. I’ve done it wrong every time. Is my tent humidity ok from the 3x3?
I’m not a plumber my water is some of the worst in the USA. Just from the faucet it’s 360ppm and the rust smell is terrible. Even if I was I would have to go in the crawlspace on the opposite end of the house fill up a bucket with water drag it all the way to the garden and it gets snowy and cold here.Put a shut off valve and a faucet on a new line off the main water line before it gets to the softener.
You shouldnt run a tea for a cloner imo. Too many problems. Just use clonex at about 250ppms check the ph daily. Dip you cuts in a root stim and put in cloner. Dont get your cuts hooked on the humidity with those domes, I start cracking them at day four.
You dont need to scrap the stem. I already just mutilated my cuts I dont need to mutilate it more.
Leave them alone now, could of trimmed them up when you took the cuts. Here’s a pic of the clones. Should I trim the leaves or does this not matter in the ezcloner
I tested above the cuts with my par meter the reading I get is 45-50 micro moles (μmol) of light. Is that too much?Leave them alone now, could of trimmed them up when you took the cuts.
I think the light is too much might want to raise it up.
low light for cloning, you don't want em growing, just rootingI tested above the cuts with my par meter the reading I get is 45-50 micro moles (μmol) of light. Is that too much?
I have a 24” T5 inside the reflector. If I ever figure out cloning I will have enough clones for the undercurrent RDWC system and that tent will hold a pro system with 6 baskets for veg and the reflector will have a 250 watt. Just gotta proof cloning first.
