Cutting Fan Leaves ..Not the Stems but the Leaves Themselves

So grow a full plant, chop it, cut it, let it grow a whole new plant?
No. LOL. Grow your plant until you have at least 3 full sets of leaves. Then top it. Gently bend the two branches that will now be the top away from eachother. When you get at least two sets of leaves on both of those,..top it again. Do this until you have the number of tops you wish to bud. Remove mature leaves a couple at a time from the bottom up. Plant must be healthy and well rooted. to take alot of pruning.

I chopped just about all of my big fan leaves last night after transition, and I didn’t see any stress, if anything all 5 of my babies seemed happy to not have those big guys sucking nutes my budding areas will need. Gonna feed tonight from the top to aerate, and then see how they are looking in the morning, if they have dried enough to feed that is.
Fan leaves do not suck nutes the buds need. Photosynthesis occurs in those fan leaves and that process is what creates the energy the buds need to grow.

The lack of knowledge about plant science within the cannabis growing community is astonishing.

The lack of knowledge about computer science in a world where just about every household has a computer is also astonishing but life goes on.

I'd suggest reading actual University thesis on the subject from notable universities. And then try it on a plant or two in your crop. To each his own. No hostilities. Just worked well for me and I get denser stronger buds from the same clone batch when I run an occasional test. Peace.

I've read plenty of studies. Which is why I made the comment that fan leaves don't take nutes away from the buds.

Wish I was stoned>>LOL> Gifted too many people and waiting on this rushed grow. But leaves only produce or photosynthesize to certain point. At which time they draw from the plant to grow larger. This minor stress also stimulates resin production in an attempt to dissuade the pest that are consuming it.

I know that this is done when cloning and the reasons for doing so make total sense but I'm wondering if there are people out there that have cut a set of fan leaves in half to allow more light into a certain area when tucking just doesn't seem to be enough. Search results here on RIU brings up no mention of it (that I could find) so I figure that it's not something that's commonly done. The reason I ask? Because I went out on a limb (no pun intended) and cut two sets of fan leaves in half on a 24 day old auto. She looked a little stressed at first but she sprang back after a few hours.
cutting ab 1/3 to 1/2 an inch off to help those bottom leaves out wont hurt but its not particularly necessary, this can also cause infection! I recommend just dead-heading as needed

Open wounds are bad.
that's what I'm sayin brother man, if its a sanitized indoor grow its prob not going to destroy the crop, but infection is always a possibility. I personally let the plant grow naturally only training the branches... I'd never cut up the leaves...

I grow orchids. I learned all about open wounds. Try cinnamon to seal splits after a spritz of hydrogen peroxide.

I didn't know wtf dead-heading was, so I looked it up. I think you are confused man.

Man dead-heading is just the equivalent to pruning, simple as that. It can mean multiple things but in this context it just means snipping off unhealthy or dying leaves to prevent further issues.
