Thanks Greenthumb really appreciate the info. Can you help me with understanding why the 3 different columns (mine/malibu/coots)? I'm very "green" to soil. Also, my plan is to put one plant under 315 cmh times 4 (3x12' flowering) what size of sip would you use and how long of a veg would it take (roughly) to fill a 3x3 scrog?

Well that's hard to say, bc it changes depending on the soil test results. But over all yes its basically the same more or less. But I've been having some test come back and my nitrogen is through the roof. So I've been leaving out some things depending on the test.

I also have been using about 1/2 cup of oyster shell to counter the low ph of all the em1 I've been using.

Earthboxes are def too small... I'll be running SIPs like yours soon enough, but I thought that I would let you know "you were right"...

Mine is my version, the other two, are 1 clackamas coots recipe, and the other is Malibus soil recipe. Just did it like that to compare to mine.

ahhhh well that makes sense. What size of container and how long of a veg do you think is needed for one plant under a 315 cmh?

what about a 20" self watering pot?

Too small to support a soil food web, not saying it wont work, but dont expect to run things exactly the way I do. I feel even the 18g sips are too small to really support and sustain life.

So If I made a 25 gallon tote into a sip (like yours) that would be large enough for one plant to fill a 3x3 scrog under a 315 cmh?

I've ran them in 18g totes, I always felt they were kinda lacking, and not big enough to really fill up my 4x4 scrog. But for a 3x3 I think it would be plenty. But again, I still think it's too small to support an entire food web, doesn't mean it wont work as long a you continue to add life to it, which we already do through em1, and compost and things.

I've just noticed much better results with my 30g, but also I've found the 50g was just a bit too much, unless you make some type of bed, or something that doesnt move!

But I'm working on running 2 test right now, first is I'm trying to work out my flower spectrum. Even tho my yields increased with the new lights, my nugs arent as fat and stocky as they were with my 1k hps. So I'm adding in some deep reds, 660nm 720nm and other spectrums trying to make up the difference. Bought a kind led flower bar, and also going to get a few deep red strips to compare with.

Also I finally got around to putting an air stone in the reservoir of one of my sips. Been wanting to run this experiment for a while, bc em1 is normally anaerobic, but adding air to it doesn't kill, but from what I've been able to learn, it changes it completely. Now if it's a good change or a bad change hopefully I can find out soon.

looking sexy greenthumb! and looking forward to the results of the air stone in the rez. I also wondered about putting an air stone in the root zone(soil) like the autopot does. I am so glad I came across your posts while researching for my own grow. To get hydro rates of growth along with organic nutrition is exciting. Thanks for sharing your story man.

For anyone who was wondering how the piggy bullshit played out, just left the lawyers office and after I've now shoveled out 5k, all of my wifes charges have been dropped. Still waiting to see about the taxes, and I'm told it gunna be another 500 bucks to get it expunged...

I thought if you weren't convicted then theres nothing to be expunged, either hes trying to milk me out another 500, or what idk. Just very grateful and feel a billion pounds lifted off my shoulders!

Tough call on the $500 bucks. He priced it perfectly, not to high as compared to $5000 and not to low so that he can still get his hook and coke for a night. I would pay and forget about it.

Overall sounds like great news. Stay safe my friend.

I more than likely will just pay it off, just trying to find out if anything really needs to even be expunged. I mean she was charged but all the charges were dropped, so why should we have to pay anything more than what I've already paid.

Hey green, any opinion on the sip build using irrigation pipe "big o" for the res? It almost seems too easy and wondering if there are any drawbacks?
