The hot water heater timer controls the lights all of them at once on that circuit. So you'd wire your wire to the panel then into the water heater timer then into the plugs that your lights are plugged into. You can call it whatever you want but that's what I bought for mine. They are fairly inexpensive as well. For larger applications I'd look into a better timer made especially to deal with the high power draw but that setup should power 2 1000s hid easily. And you'd only be at 60% load on that circuit, which is where I like to be.. No cords heating up at all

Ok ty,I recently talked to an old friend electrician and I think I am going to run a sub panel upstairs to power my room downstairs so that I have room to upgrade which is almost addictive with growing.I used to use cfl’s!So the hot water timer’s alternative is the 15 amp 240volt outlet timer?I currently am just using 120volts even on the 1000 watt hps,but I am running at 50% which I assume is about 4.5 amps at 120 volts, right?

I’m learning a lot here lol I’m kind of jealous of people that understand electrical engineering like that
Well I wished I could too,I just know the basics of residential electrical applications and ohms law,but there are some very intelligent people on here who explain the more complex aspects of not just electrical but NPK’s,ph&ppm,ec etc..

Use a light controller or build one yourself. You hardwire it with 240v and it has a relay inside. The relay is triggered by a 120v trigger cord which you plug into any cheap 120v timer. This allows you to control the lights with a 120v timer but they are actually powered by the 240v.
