I spent weeks messing with colloidal silver and ended up with no colloidal silver left and a couple of very healthy little female plants in full flower. I tried STS and at around 3 weeks of using it, my little females made the transition, Well, that's when I first noticed the balls...

Looks like your experiment worked. Congrats!
I go some fem pollen going myself on an outdoor plant right now.

After spraying for 2 weeks and seeing nothing i wrote it off as failed, 3 weeks into flower, balls and pistils everywhere

I noticed the balls 4 days ago and it's like they just suddenly appeared. I'm glad it worked out - no more buying seeds for a while
