What's the deal with the black ash vs white ash thing?

That first link was a good read, very interesting.
I used to think the darkness thing was all just bro-science until I got curious one day and started searching research journals for some mechanism that would support the practice. It's not a cannabis specific article, but all green plants do the same thing and cannabis is a photosynthesizing green plant... so... ;)

"tested for impurities" is a pretty bold statement coming from most of these "dispensaries" . If they all tested the stuff we would never be sitting here bashing them but we know the truth. I would still trust the local dealer over a dispensary any day. (thats because they will sell ANYTHING that looks or smells good because there is a lack of good smoke...... im sure thats controversial but its my solid belief. )
I think it depends on what state/country you're in. Here in Oregon they have some pretty strict testing requirements. Everything sold in a dispensary has to be accompanied by passing test results. Oregon also has some pretty strict labeling requirements for nutrients as well which is why there are hundreds of products on a Stop Sale list. Most are cannabis specific products that don't list what's in them and get caught.

"The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is responsible for Cannabis testing rules that apply to both the medical and retail market. Any marijuana or marijuana product intended to be sold at a dispensary or retail shop must have been sampled and tested according to the testing rules.

Any laboratory that tests marijuana items must be accredited by ORELAP and licensed by OLCC. Only accredited and licensed laboratories may sample and test marijuana items.

All marijuana items transferred or sold to a dispensary or retail shop must be accompanied by documentation of passing test results."

Im sure as time passes the rest of us will catch up but for now lots of dispensary's are just plain disreguarding their states current laws or it could be the way they handle the product themselves....not real sure but some of the worst dope i ever seen in my life was sittting in the bottom shelf at the dispensary , tainting the ok stuff they had up top. My naked eye is not the best but i know what mildew and mold smells like.
Hopefully they get as strict as OHA everywhere....

A separate topic but one worth discussing imo.

Do you believe the THC tests that are done? Im in a legal state, and the testing, without a doubt (not Oregon) is falsified.

I could in fact post pictures of jars claiming 38% thc. 36%. 37%. Lol when I read through the law in detail I realized that a law does not always create rules that have to be followed. What is the penalty for falsifying test results? I would bet not a single person in my state knows. There is none!

i think the 38% means , never been tested but it smelled real good and looks good. (a quality 18% bud)

As copout as it may sound, I believe almost everything discussed in this thread matters.

Richard Drysift....ive been organic since the start (not long ago!) and all my friends believe mine is more potent, better tasting smoother and tastier than any store bud.

To those not growing organic, there is something to it.

Ever have a tomato from the store? And then one from your yard or a friend? That quality is in the soil and or nutrients given to that tomato plant. Its in the quality of care given to that plant.

Now it doesn't have to be organic, or soil, to be supreme. Go to a hydro farm (heck go to Disneyworld and see it!) And watch the amazing care given to vegetables. But notice if that farm is a "gourmet" brand or a commodity sold at market price.

It is a combination of expertise in a growing method, combined with HIGH QUALITY inputs.

Do I need to buy fancy soil? No, but I can build a HIGHER quality soil than can be bought, anywhere. Is that good enough? Not for me. A

Some hydro growers here could grow stuff that would make my friends say sorry bro...to me.

Its not one thing except...quality.

Where and how can quality be compromised? Everywhere.

The reference to undried wood says it all as far as curing.

As far as places to cheap out on a grow i.e. a commercial shop that does not concern itself with reputation will --

Not use enough light to grow max potency
Not grow long enough to have fully mature buds
Not care if a different nute regimen works better if it costs more...its "good enough"
Not care to do any more than dry it for 4 days and jar it for sale.
And so forth....

Quality always burns white with some gray or black residual. Nasty sxxx you wont even burn long enough to confirm it isnt white...

All above is of course just my opinion...

Most certainly "tested."

But who did it, how did that nug happen to get dusted in kief and who would know if the machine said 38 or 18?

As the cultivators lied more boldly (in collaboration with the testing company) I actually used to LOL with the guys at the store about how ridiculous the testing lies were.

But notice im the only person talking about it. In the while world, lol. People want to believe...

i talk about it all the time.... its true as it gets. the laws are not there..... they have no idea what they are doing so they are using us to figure out the business model.
Plus i keep saying it and most wont agree but there is a shortage of good quality smoke. Always has been. Most of the labs are "new" .....most of the tests are fudged to keep up with demand. If mold and mites make it into the "dispensary" then how could i possibly believe anything they say.

I think renfro was saying he doesnt cure his stuff because it would likely get rejected due to mold spores. Kind of assumed that is why dispensary shit is always overdried
