curious what the light foliage could mean and how to address it / increase growth.

Not sure when FFOF needs amending but it’s definitely getting there and I noticed FFOF doesn’t have much in terms of minerals and Potassium. I amended with 444 Gaia green (2tbs per gallon of soil) 3 weeks ago but I may need to reammendand add some epsom salt. Thoughts?
Use epsoms as a foliar. Not amendment. 1/4 tsp / quart.

Glad it isn't my thought. TY. Happy to be wrong. Fabric still sucks for me. LOL.

Is there another pre-made super soil I should go with? Want to keep things simple
There are plenty of other choices.
ffof is a great soil for growing cannabis.
Those that say it is garbage are parroting what they heard from others or they don't know how to grow in it.
Biggest problem is the soil PH is often on the low side and the PH slowly drops during the grow and by the time someone reaches flower they need to be adding lime or ph'ing their water to keep the plant happy.
"FFOF is garbage" belongs in @Budzbuddha's bro science thread.

yea ok @Kushash

i used FFOF for over 10 years and i loathed the fact that it changed and i needed to stop using it - its horrific now - its as dense as top soil and anybody who's used it for years and knows what it used to be and how it is now, would most likely agree - and thats a FACT - same goes with Happy Frog - both terrible now

@Sokofofat

try Tupur from Royal Gold or pretty much anything from Royal Gold, or try Roots Organics Original and/or also anything from them that you're interested in

also, Promix HP works great

Its not consistent when it comes to bacteria and food and ph/lime because of packaging/storage/ect... but its always been consistent in texture. Ive never seen heavy, clayish like FFOF. even after being reused 20 times or more. Its always been that way where i get it. In 20 years ive only seen very slight changes if any. mainly just consistency issues with the lime/food.

mixed coco and soil bcs I thought I’d get the best of both worlds but I’m sticking with soil now to get the basics down before I try just coco or any hybrids.
It sounds like all you did was water down your FFOF and starve your plant. Are you feeding any nutes?

As far as FFOF "being garbage", that's funny. My local hydro store sells that shit by the pallet to local Santa Cruz growers all day long. It's prolly some of the best potting soil you can get for $10 per 1.5 cu ft bag.

Been using Recipe 420 ( EB stone ) or Bhangi mix over FFOF only. Hearing of inconsistencies in FFOF ( regional ? ) but got a couple of bags lately ( from mid pallet) at local nurseries. Noticed some gnats ... put dumped bags in tote and mixed neem meal .

FFOF does exhaust fairly quickly and most glaring deficiency I noticed is potassium ... especially around week 5 of flower. And use EWC / Dry fertilizer top dress to correct.

... if you dont lift the pot off the ground it will not fully recover. put anything u can under it. doesn't have to be a pot elevator. get air under it. fabric pots are designed for air pruning. thats one whole side of ur pot thats not getting air.

FFoF, recipe 420, roots organic.. all the same. overpriced imo but if you can afford it sure takes some of the work out of the early stages. personally i go with inert media and hydroponic ferts it saves a lot of money.

Just for the record , I been using FFOF for 20 years off and on and my last purchase about 2 months ago was the worst i ever seen from FFOF. Never seen it that bad....looked an smelled fine but had my clones looking light burnt in a day or two after transplant. Have no clue what was so bad about this batch but i assume its lacking lime.
My girls were almost white for a week or so with dim lighting. top dressed with lime and started feeding early and they came right out of it.....

I added a bunch of extra lime to the last few bags and its helped a lot but not completely. I think the food and the lime was lacking/used up in this batch.
Im gonna go grab a bunch more soon , im sure it will be fine....

The more i sit and think about it right now....I think that the calcium in the lime was all broken down and chelated prior to using, causing a lockout of N or just an overall ph fuck up. That makes sense because as the plant started eating the calcium , it started getting better.... then was healthy in another week or so.

Are you getting the pallets of 122 for less than $865?

The biggest problem I've seen in some bags has to do with storage. If your supplier stores their pallets outside in the rain or whatever, you may end up with anerobic crap in your bag.

Good luck reading and getting through this pack of information that covers just about everything under the sun. Maybe it's just a different light in a different atmosphere. Give it a week and see. I grow in coco and water as many times a day as I can and with a low dose of fertilizers.

If he plays his cards right he now has some very knowledgeable growers on this thread that might take a closer look at his problem.

I top dressed with 10 tablespoons of 444 Gaia Green about 4 weeks ago.
