Carbon filter brands that are good/decent?

I've been using Vivosun filters for years. The current 6 inch filter has well over a year of use. Can't smell anything until you open the tent. Then BAM! It's like a punch in the face. Some will say that they are not worth the money but they have performed the function they are intended. I haven't had any issues with smell. But I run passive intake and constantly have negative pressure. If you don't have things setup correctly you can get leaks and no filter will stop the smell if that's the case.
My entire property reeked when I ran generic filters. Especially in the summer. A guy walking past my house said he coined the area "skunk land." Then I got the Vivosuns and couldn't smell anything outside of the tent until my current grow started to mature.

They aren't even that expensive really. Especially considering I was swapping out my old filters about every 6 months.

I paid $39 for a 4x14. Phresh is currently $112.99 at Amazon.

If it works, great. If it fails, I deal with the smell for the time it takes to run to the local shop and buy a Phresh, or get next-day delivery at a premium.

It's a gamble, but as I'm in a legal state, it's one I'm comfortable with. Might want to think differently if you're not in a Green state.

I think I dropped lucky.

bought a 900m3/h rhino pro (150x600mm) back in 2012 and still using the Same one now.

my fan is rated at 450m3/h and very rarely Runs at 100%.

but from what I’ve been reading in the last few years they aren’t lasting like this any more.

I remember you mentioning this a few months ago, and I still think about it once in a while. You made the greatest purchase in cannabis equipment history.

It's not a gamble. I'm saying Vivosun makes a great filter. They aren't generic, just not outrageously priced. I'm sure Phresh filters are high quality, but I couldn't imagine any filter working much better than the Vivosun.

Yeah I don’t expect to be so lucky again when I do have to buy a new one.

like I said tho.

exhaust fan 450m3/h
Filter 900m3/h

So even at full 100% running speed I’m only utilise half of what my filter can handle.

I think this has played a massive role in its longevity.

plus I also have a spare pre filter sleeve that I rotate every cycle.

i have one but it cant keep up in late flower. i put it in the mom tent and it does its job there until the auto in there starts to smell then you can smell it from the exhaust. i had it on and mid flower my house danked and i vent into my viranda so when you walk up to the house you could smell it comming out the windows lol. that was the only time i ever bought anything but a canfilter and i instantly went out and bought a can for 250. no smell
worth it imo

prob is your fan is pulling really hard to get through the filter. so maybe your filter last longer but your putting extra wear on your fan.
thats why certain fans/filters are rated for each other. as soon as you put on any filter your cfm is reduced. and again every few feet of ducting and by alot every 90° bend in the ducting. it puts stress on your fan motor.

I’ve only just changed the fan I purchased in 2012 lol.

Second mountain air.

Also what’s important with carbon filters is choosing the right size for your tent. For my 5x5 I have a 380mm carbon filter which scrubs nicely.
