I have plenty of family in Mississippi and Florida. They were always very conservative, citing gospel and hated the president if he was a Democrat. They talked about "yankees" as if they were not human. They don't seem to have changed much to me.

Wallace, Clinton, Carter and the Longs were Dems, the south was a solid Democratic block until recently.

It was a simple observation, the south was solid blue in the 20th century. Wallace got the black vote because they knew what to expect from him. As for Billy, as redneck as they come, Jimmy adapted, Bubba Clinton too.

There's been that thought.
Both he and his cousin John, (the Baptist), were thought to be Essenes.
A Jewish sect. Very Orthodox. Lived out in the desert. About 2000 to 5000 people.
Hated the Romans.
Every now and then one of them would head to Jerusalem to preach.
Cult-like fashion. Implore the people and the religious leaders to "Return to G*d and Torah.
Usually with the same results.
