Cracking fish mate well done!
Lol ya most of em fought good. One had a nice long tail walk right at me.Cracking fish mate well done!
Did it give you a good fight, screaming reel?
Yes the lamprey was likely dislodged during the fight. Usually happens that way. Every once in a while one comes out with the lamprey still attachedNice fish is that a lamprey mark on that one?
The salmon run has been shit here as well this year. Same issue... No rain no run. This has been my worst season ever to date we've not had enough rain to let salmon and sea trout into the system, or not in any numbers.
I'm reduced to looking through old photos
I've only been out 5 times for sea trout

I've got serious concerns about the remaining time the local closes on the 6th October.
A fond memory...

Sure does remind me of that spot on the Monte. Haven’t been there in a minute. I’ve caught a couple dinos on that little pier.Is that second pic Montezuma Slough? Maybe by the Red Barn?
That it is!Is that second pic Montezuma Slough? Maybe by the Red Barn?
We had some clamp on rod balancers we made just for that spot. I’ve caught more than a couple sturgeon on that thing. Are all those snags still on the right? Someone had told me there was a bunch of cars in the slough right there. That it is!
Its been decades since I’ve fished there! Used to be a decent sturgeon hole, and of course the strippers at the White Bridge. Lots of huge carp too. I’ve fished that sough for many years. Hope it’s still productive. I haven’t heard about any big sturgeon coming out but I have heard about some 30# to 40# strippers being weighed in. Good luck! That it is!
I grew up close to the area and the story me and my friends all heard (dating back to the ‘70’s) was that those snags were mattresses. Whatever it was they were a pain to work around. We had some clamp on rod balancers we made just for that spot. I’ve caught more than a couple sturgeon on that thing.
