The fishing thread ( not about fish fertilizer)

I grew up close to the area and the story me and my friends all heard (dating back to the ‘70’s) was that those snags were mattresses. Whatever it was they were a pain to work around.
I was there one day and asked another guy fishing, “what the fuck are there a bunch of shopping carts down there or what”. He said some story about cars being in there lol.
I would usually be fishing from Cache slough down to the fleet depending on the time of year of course in one of my boats chasing them dinos. Right now i’d be killing it around the power lines and into broad slough. Pretty much out in front of Sherman island. My favorite time is right now through late october fishing the incoming big tides of course.
But you gotta take a break from the boat. So that pier was one of my favorite bankin it spots.

The only thing I love more than growing weed is fishing. Been fishing as long as I can remember, fishing from the end of a dock or trolling ballyhoos off the north drop for some blues. For the past few years I’ve been on a largemouth kick in the summer, but it really doesn’t matter even perch are exciting. I am blessed to live in an area where there are so many fishing opportunities within a short drive from the house for a multitude of species and a lot of trophie sized ones at that

Love the pics bro but the first pic is the shittiest attempt at hiding ones identity that I ever seen. You might want to recheck it out if you are trying to keep it DL

This is a dangerous thread. How easy it would be to post your pic without thinking “ Yeah it’s a fishing thread but it’s in a weed forum and they can see all the other shit I posted about grows.” LOL. I’m in a legal state but I’m sure that like a lot of folks I wouldn’t want somebody I knew to either see it or be showed it by somebody else. Sucks to have to still feel that way. That’s what a lifetime of prohibition does to a person.

Its been decades since I’ve fished there! Used to be a decent sturgeon hole, and of course the strippers at the White Bridge. Lots of huge carp too. I’ve fished that sough for many years. Hope it’s still productive. I haven’t heard about any big sturgeon coming out but I have heard about some 30# to 40# strippers being weighed in. Good luck!
Biggest striper I caught there was 48 inches/ 40 lbs. Of course that was released back. Gotta keep those genetics going.

Great sturgeon spot once the weather turns colder. Can still catch them in the summer but not nearly as often. 40 to 60 inch are keepers now. I have seen a 12 footer get pulled in this year. And many keepers.

We had some clamp on rod balancers we made just for that spot. I’ve caught more than a couple sturgeon on that thing. Are all those snags still on the right? Someone had told me there was a bunch of cars in the slough right there.
Lmfao. Yes going down the bank to the curve at the end is just asking to loose your terminal tackle.

The cars have been removed but tons of rip rap (rocks) down there. Must be thousands of dollars worth of 10 oz weights lol.

Someone's anchor got caught on a ball of lures and line at the outlet and they pulled it onto the bank on the west side downstream. The thing had to be 6' in diameter.

I woke up this morning to rain and checked the river height its up 8" not ideal but it's fresh water :-), after work I went down to the river fished until dark but didn't catch anything, I didn't even get a knock from a trout, I lost a flying C then a rapala in same spot but I can retrieve them when it falls in.

It was good to get out again though I was fishing more in hope than expectation lol :-)

I've Just checked the river level and it's up 2ft above autumn level and rising, another 1ft on top of that would be nice but 2ft is a good start.

I was on route to the river early July.

I searched and surprisingly enough there are no dedicated fishing threads. I double checked. @curious2garden
Edit:my search ability lacks apparently

So I figured I'd start one.

Striper, largemouth, catfish, a flounder by mistake and a jelly fish on a popper.
