Milk that biatch
It's brown town here too, but I've been busy with musky, Everything else is just bait!
Gotta get out for some steel and browns, now is the time
@Wizzlebiz you use the sebile magic swimmer? Heard it's a good striper bait. We use it for the mucky mucky here
Nope haven't used that. Jerkbaits, cranks, rattle traps, and a good ole s waver

A swim bait is fine as well but just doesn't have the same flare lol.

With that said I am about to order one and give it a whirl. Lol

Just tried to buy one and it's out of stock everywhere online. Lmao

We used to catch the hell out of them on my buddies bass boat all over the delta with white or chartreuse spinners too. Even catch them jigging gibbs minnows. Most of the bigger ones i’ve caught down there were with live bait. Bullheads or mudsuckers. Depending where we were fishing.

Its a whole nother story up higher on these rivers. BIG ol spring run stripers up here are caught mostly with swimbaits. Like 40, 50 and even almost 60lbers! Its nutz. I don’t got the back anymore for chucking big ass swimbaits so My preferred method is bouncing jumbo minnows drifting :-). Had prob about a 50lber up to the boat around colusa a few years ago. Once it seen us it freaked out and i couldn’t catch up to it. :-(.
Def would have been my personal best.

The largest I have actually pulled in was 48 inches roughly 40 lbs. We had decided that day that we were going old school.

Dig up some worms and catch a bait fish. Rig that bait fish and catch a bigger fish and see how far we can take it in the day.

Well it went as follows for me: worm > mudsucker > pikeminnow > big ass striper.

My buddy it went worm > mudsucker and that's where it ended for him lol.

Hell yeah! Never did use a Sac pike for bait but have heard of others catching hogs with them.

i love using live bait. Even just farting around from shore. Catch black bass, striper or even cats in the sloughs out there with a minnow under a bobber. Love doing that with the kids or it’s a high low rig with some cut anchovie popsicle. Non stop action but usually a lot of shakers with the chovies in the sloughs. Although I’ve caught plenty keepers with a plug cut popsicle in some depth.

I had one of my boats in a slip at Vierras. I used to launch the other boat all the time at Pittsburg marina because Dockside(now closed) had the best grass shrimp and was super close to my hole. He also had bullheads and minnows. This is right after they brought back the 2 rod stamp and we were fishing my favorite spot in Broad slough. We usually use bullhead down there because the brackish water. He only had jumbo minnows so I said fuck it.
Anywho, so i’m parked over my favorite hole with lines dropped down for sturgeon and a few lines tossed up higher for striper on the shoal. On of my buddies dropped down a minnow for the fuck of it.

The biggest sturgeon that day came from the minnow. Lol

It's a hot bait.... I ordered off Amazon but they only have 9" mackerel color. (good for you) and smaller baby lures 7.5" in white There's a few local tackle shops that carry them around here

perch colored rapala strikes again. This lure is my favorite lol. although shes one less treble hook now,i was tearing up his upper mouth to get it and he wasnt having it, just cut the hook which will hopefully rust away. Ive caught them with all sorts of things in their mouths though, not much slows down these killing machines. i had fun stoned in quickly fading sunlight sliding in the mud trying to void being hooked with this pissed off lil guy, thrashing and spinning all over. Been to this spot 20 times, sometimes for hours, never more than a bluegill. and got this guy on the 2nd cast because i happened to be nearby with my stuff on me.
