Been a weird year... Hasn't cooled down enough. Runs here were scattered and the fish were lethargic due to less oxygen in the warm water. Trout's doing pretty good tho but slow start. I'm still on the musky kick. Season closes Dec 15 and I need my 50" for the year.I've been out for salmon 8-10 times since I last posted here, I've only hooked and lost one for gawd knows now many hours fishing.
I was out yesterday from daylight to late afternoon and nothing, not even a knock from a trout to keep the adrenaline boosted lol...

I'd put a big plastic minnow under a float and twitch it around! Mack would prob work ... Oily fishyI'm thinking about having a go for pike tomorrow but I'm limited for bait, is either mackerel or rainbow trout any good for pike bait?
Sardines/silversides on a quick strike rig under a float work if you just want to relax. Typically they start biting well just before dark here. Pike is my go to fresh water fish for the table ….. yum. We used to use .22’s and bows in the spring but that’s frowned upon now lol.I'm thinking about having a go for pike tomorrow but I'm limited for bait, is either mackerel or rainbow trout any good for pike bait?
Bow fishing for pike is still legal but only in certain areas and certain times here. need to check the regs, but it's a legit way to catch food. Nothing wrong if it's food. I get carp because they can be destructive. Suckers are just baitYa not here but yup out west in a couple of provinces it is. Carp and sucker only with bow or spear here. View attachment 5027721View attachment 5027722
I get carp because it’s fun lol. They are an invasive species so it’s encouraged, and I give them all to my Chinese buddy and a bear hunt guide buddy.I get carp because they can be destructive. Suckers are just bait

Heading to Bermuda next week so hopefully a couple of bones if I have time.I didn't get out as planned hopefully I'll get out tomorrow though.
I'm desperate for a good weighty fish I'm having trouble controlling ... good fights and screaming runs have been very scarce this season.
