The food:

Bapi panggang (“pork roasted”) on nasi from chinese-indonesian. Sauce is tomato based sweet chilli, pork is on a bed of acar campur (pickled salad) so it’s sour-sweet.

The end of Summer is the beginning of S.A.D. for me.
I’ve been tempted to buy a cheap place in Argentina or Peru for the winter.
Perpetual Summer!

Wonderful. lit Rijsttafels Puffy wafers look like shrimp chips?
That’s exactly what it is. Krupuk udang. I don’t think I ever had fried rice without it. Aside from good taste it’s great to scoop up some rice with a piece of meat, like little edible spoons. I posted some more background info a while ago here: https://www.rollitup.org/t/new-and-improved-tnt-foodie-thread.1069452/post-16879313

Yeah it’s going to be cloudy, windy, rainy and dark pretty soon. Couple of years ago, just pre-corona, we spent a month in Australia’s summer, our winter and it’s like the best medicine. Great food too.

Made some fresh basil pasta. I incorporated about a cup of fresh basil into the pasta dough.

It's not the sexiest looking dish but it tasted good so we ate it. I just sautéed the veggies from the garden, then added some butter, cream, pasta water, and parmesan. I only cooked the pasta in water for a minute and then finished it of in the veggies and sauce. I would have added some halved cherry tomatoes and fresh basil as garnish but we ate late last night and I didn't feel like going out back to pick anything while the food got cold. A little color would have done wonders for the visual appeal.
