No I have not.

My fly start was in Newaygo, Michigan at "Boomers" house/trailer. She tied for the Orvis shop on the Pier Marquette just north of White Cloud. I tied for joints. Still dragging worms and grasshoppers or a Mepps Agilia if I recovered one from my trips. And all on an Abu Garcia or Zebco 404.

My brother used to use a piece of pine bark that emulated hatchery trout food. Kicked my ass every time using any “traditional” lure.

We used to clean up the Stoney Brook hatchery stocking at the Mill pond in White Cloud, MI. Kids tourney for tagged fish on the free fishing weekend. 10"-24" farm raised rainbows.

A clear slip bobber and a bag of meow mix. Many smokers full of the only smoked fish I will now eat.

I had a customer with a trout pond who offered me a hundred dollars if I could catch even one
I landed three on three cast before he demanded to know what I was using
I had tied a deer hair wad that looked like dog kibble
Pretty much matching the hatchery feed
I got my hundred and he kept my fly

The trick to catch trout, is using earthworms for bait.
My dad's one friend had (may still have) a manmade stretch of river next to the real river he used for farming trout for the Franschoek hotels.
I would collect crickets and worms etc like crazy when I heard we were going to go fish there... Is probably the only freshwater fish I eat.

I just bought a curado too, for bottom bouncing. Need to send my calcuttas in for service..... And I'm not one for down time. Hey we could be spending money on worse things that's for sure!!

Im a big fan of curado. I have 1 Curado casting rod, 3 curado DC baitcasters and 1 curado saltwater baitcaster.

I also have a zodais rod and 3 slx DC baitcasters.

I like Shimano if you can't tell.
