Does this qualify as an IPA? I recognized the brand because of this thread. I don't mind it too much. I'm getting grapefruit tones and slightly more pronounced, over driven ale taste with a bitter top end bite that sweetens the Plexi like feel.

Just an ale, but I don't think SN beer does anything without over hopping it in my opinion.

That's good stuff. I'm very familiar with that particular brew. It's not an IPA but Sierra Nevada makes a couple really good hoppy IPA's. Torpedo IPA is really good and right now their seasonal is Celebration IPA. I just posted the Celebration.

My all time favorite. I've brewed clones of it. Wyeast 1056, Cascade hops. I think it was Pale Ale malted barley. It's been awhile but I've still got all the recipes and crap along with all the gear.

It’s an IPA in a pale ale malt bill. Like an IPA Light.
Practically created the craft beer market in CA.
Still an excellent quaff.

About half the brews I’ve brewed up were a Clone of it too. Was pretty damn close. I always wanted to harvest and culture yeast from their stuff but never did. Maybe in the future.
There was maybe still is, a killer brewmeister in San Jose that taught me everything. Had some killer clone recipes. Another one of my favorites was a Hoppy Face clone.

I've done that before too actually, where I harvested the yeast sediment from a six pack. Then grew more from it and used that. I only did that once though, It was much easier just to buy the 1056 which is supposedly what that yeast started as.
