Silver haze x red pck, after 72 hours. Popped those together with the rest but wasn't sure I'd actually use any. This eager one I had to.... and then it broke on transplant. When I got 40 seedling I tend to be a little rougher compared to buy 5-6 for a 100 bucks but damnit... anyway, kept it, figured it might come back. Well it did, I basically topped (bottomed?) the taproot early. Not the first time, like breaking it below a rockwool cube only to see roots coming out at the sides eventually.

shxredpckseedling.jpg

Obviously stalled, but the only reason I wanted to have a few is to check if the red from the red PCK (and I do mean red red) would survive crossing it with silver haze. Its very short wide leaves, especially center finger, show clearly who its father was. PCK is super low yield, SH very high, so maybe it'll be good, maybe it'll be pretty at least.

Started using big led to keep temps up, they like it.

Still not entirely comfortable, Panama x SH, which is like stretchy giant x stretchy giant.

Found more grow toys in the garage… weather station thing with remote sensor for outdoor, which I use in my grow space. Pic taken just before it synced, still working good. Main display in living next to couch saving me from having to go to plants and check temp. bongsmilie

I have some Panama x grand daddy purps, Panama x dark star seeds but never got any red colors,,, I wasted tons of money chasing a purple strain. I gave up on that search after losing $2500 on seeds and wasted grow time on small producing plants.. that is beautiful to see, hope that color pulls through,,maybe I’ll be hitting u up for seeds.lol anyways sorry to throw pics on your thread but here’s what I got.

Looks like they're doing great under your led. I like how it spreads the light at the source. I was hoping you'd post pics so no worries.

As for getting red... I just realize now I never posted those grows in this thread... :eyesmoke::eyesmoke:

Grabbed a few, will find some from males later too.

This is a pink PCK x Silver Haze

Close up of a red PCK, I'll grab better pics later. I have distinct purple, red and pink.

color-coded seeds, pink top left, purple bottom left, red bottom right.
redpckseeds.jpeg

So it took no effort getting color in the PCK (from ACE seeds) and it passes on to crosses (have tested very little). But... there's always a catch isn't there.... the yield of the PCK is so low it's barely worth growing. Very low potency. Some interesting undertones of earthy sweetness but nothing that makes it past drying and curing. I crossed it with Hindu Kush, not sure if I ever grown 1 or more, but the idea was to beef it up with something similar before crossing it color into something else.

Found some more.

A pink PCK:

Now the following shot shows its problem already… I wanted to see structure without topping but even topped or scrogged or whatever its yield sucks

Pretty xmas tree but that’s about it…

Red male:

Hence why I said that seedling already looks after its father.

And purple pck, also very very low yield.

Beautifull colors, never seen a male like that either, I may have gone cross crazy with him. I did get 6 purple plants sorry no pics they were all out a 10 pack of Dutch passion purple #1, good color tasted and smelled like perfume but each plant produced very little like maybe a half oz a plant I was truly happy to get color but disappointed in the end not worth the time and electricity .

Oh that brings back memories, Purple. Smoked that a lot when I was 16/17, first few years of visits to coffeeshops involved a lot of cleaning up purple bud, picking calyxes from leafy bud that is, part of the ritual. Classic outdoor plant cause it was fast enough for our short summers and could take some bad weather. From a time there wasn’t much else than hash and thai weed which was like dried branches. Purple was definitely purple, even dried it was dark. The purple pck dries into dark purple too, red keeps barely any red and none of the pink shows in dried bud unless you keep it next to a lightgreen/white crystal bud.

Yes years ago, grew it back in the late 90’s. I grew it indoors did it produce any better outside?
I’ve never grown or seen anyone grown it indoors. It was popular before we had sensimilla, as in seedless weed like skunk and others Sam brought over, and from before hps became easily available. Summers are short here, were anyway, september already cold and rainy, which purple endured well without getting rot. It wasn’t a big producer outdoor either, just one of the very few options robust enough to grow in our climate. Before all the fancy names and hybrids, and besides the distinction between sativa and indica, there was indoor and outdoor weed/strains. Purple was pure outdoor.

Since u mentioned Sam, question have you happened to see any skunk around? I mean the old dead skunk smelling shit from the early 90”s, can’t seem to find it in seed form, maybe it’s because everything’s grown indoors now? Anyways figured I’d ask

I’m not up to date on what people sell in seed form nowadays or what would be a reliable source in this case. I don’t see it in shops either, but then I tend to skip over the classics if they are on the menu. Cheaper, less potent, less tasty, very low ceiling. Skunk was the best back then for indoor too, at least till it was used in many crosses to beef up flower to leaf ratio.

I know the dead skunk smell reference only from others searching for it. Shortly after Wernard Bruining (founder first coffeeshop) invited Sam and Ed over to learn how to grow better mj outdoor, every shop in the country had a 200-yard aura of skunk smell. While I knew what skunk meant in english I never made the association with a stinky animal, to me it was pungent but a pleasant smell, oldskool smell I call it now. It was pretty much synonymous with weed for me.

Long story short, I’m of no help in the quest for old dead skunk. But if you want my advice, I wouldn’t spend much time /money chasing original classics. Most was grown from then still legal-ish clones, none of those hybrids were stable enough to reproduce itself in seed (unlike Sam mentions in below image) and not undergo changes and losing bits over the years. Hardly anyone took the effort to do large grows with open pollination to keep the gene pool, and the original parents are gone. Doesn’t mean all the classics are useless, some selection can still lead to good breeding stock, but I wouldn’t hunt for a rare 80/90s pheno in batch of seeds now.

From Sam’s menu:

That all said, cross a skunk with a pungent stinky afghani, maybe cross the result back to skunk. That would probably come close as I’m pretty sure the afghani contributed the dead part although it might need some sourness on top of it.

Slow but steady. Getting heater this week and will repot to larger containers in a few days. I hoped to see some preflowers on at least a few before repotting but guess I’ll be repotting all 25, don’t want to keep them in these small conatiners too long.

This is Panama x Silver haze, sharp looking pointy saw leaves

I topped this one, P-f1, before first node… accidentally. Notice these fingers are more flat than the above.

Got only 2 of this cross, this one‘s leaves are from its father. Super short and wide fingers, especially the middle finger. Gets more normal later on. Might not repot this one.

If stabilized and true breeding where did she go? Lol

I used to kill seedlings I didn’t like or mistreated early on but kept all 25 this time, including one I damaged to a point where it was missing the first true leaves… earliest topping opportunity :)

Not at all far behind the rest either, but can’t tell sex yet.

Sex unknown for the couple of SHxredPCK too. Would not mind these being male. They clearly lean towards PCK and expect little of that. If female I’ll leave them in small pot regardless.

Not happy with the bioquant nutes. Got some deficiencies, most mg, grabbed 9 year old h&g ab and using that in combination perked them up. Quite a bit variation in the plants’ demand. Regardless, about half of the 25 are female, will keep all or at least the 9 best.

Throughout dialing it in, and getting temp high enough, there’s one plant that remained happy and lush from the start. Structure and lack of string pine odor (like p) suggests it’s the PanamaxSH but its leaves are slightly different from, and better looking/ more defined than all others. It’s a female so will drop some pollen on it.

After messing with various lights I ended up using my led creation in flower mode, ie. plenty of red, no supplemental blue. Running at 180watt instead of full 330.

Without the warm whites, 20-something watts red/blue, just for pic

Nice stuff here! Curious what ice is from the beginning of the thread? Is it the sensi ice?
Thanks. As I see you read in my post from 2014 I had them in my fridge then for 7 years. I remember the container they were in too, black film canister. But it gets vague when I try to remember who exactly gave them, a dutch forum user who had grown it for a few years already. Not unlikely at all they were created with sensi seeds at some point.

That all said, healthy and strong structure but the bud that came of it wasn't close to the frosty Indicas nowadays, it also had this earthy/fungal taste I don't like much. Almost like a landrace outdoor variety that would need a lot of work but has little to contribute.

Just checked and still got a lot of the ICExCH, never grew again cause of the ICE in it.
