China is providing military assistance to Russia by supplying various sanctioned goods. It is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

“Chinese enterprises increased supplies to the Russian Federation after the start of a special operation on the territory of Ukraine,” writes edition. According to journalists, the Chinese authorities have developed a system of "shadow" companies that supply sanctioned military goods.

According to the WSJ, China supplies Russia with navigation equipment and spare parts for jet fighters. C4ADS analysts note that many Chinese companies publish false data in order to make public as little information as possible about their activities and help the Russian Federation.

Earlier it was reported that US President Joseph Biden threatened Chinese President Xi Jinping to stop American and other investments in China if Beijing supported Russia and helped it circumvent Western sanctions. He stated this in a telephone conversation with the Chinese leader.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has begun to invent a new type of military because his entire army has nearly been liquidated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ivan Kyrychevsky, an expert writing for the Ukrainian Defense Express military news outlet, said in an interview with Radio NV on Feb. 3.

“If you do even a certain simple calculation, it turns out that during the year of hostilities, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had disposed of almost the entire conventional army of the Russian Federation,” he stated.

"That is, professionally trained, contract workers who served for several years, practiced offensive tasks. It is worth noting that the airborne assault troops of the Russian army, which were intended as almost the main shock fist in operations of any type, were almost completely eliminated.”

Kyrychevsky noted that since the personnel of the Russian army is “almost completely depleted”, the Putin regime “has to invent a new type of soldier who will serve.”

“If before that it was personnel who served professionally, now the average military man is either a “Wagnerite” (member of the Wagner mercenary group) or a covertly mobilized ‘Cossack’ who was previously trained under the system of the so-called combat army reserve,” the expert said.

As of Feb. 3, according to the General Staff, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have eliminated almost 130,000 Russian soldiers, including 840 during the past 24 hours.

According to the U.S. newspaper The New York Times, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army has lost up to 200,000 servicemembers, both killed and wounded.

According to Olga Romanova, head of the non-governmental organization Russia Behind Bars, only 10,000 out of the 50,000 Russian prisoners recruited by Kremlin’s Wagner Group to participate in a full-scale war against Ukraine have continued to serve, while the rest were killed, wounded, missing, surrendered, or deserted.

Meanwhile, according to presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak, the Wagner mercenaries press-ganged 38,244 prisoners in order to use them in the full-scale war against Ukraine. As of mid-January, 29,543 of them had already been neutralized.

I know how high up it was and wonder how many asshats wasted a lot of ammo trying to shoot it down. Was supposed to be quite a few.

I saw close up film of it on PBS earlier in the day when it was shot down. It looks large but most of the size is solar panels on either side of the control package.

It's so much ado about nothing IMHO. They have spy satellites as good as anyone's so can gather all the info easy enough. They're getting concerned about the global warming mess too and it could just be atmospheric research but you never know with those guys.

If they want to bitch about it getting shot down then they should have some sort of coordination with countries that these units will traverse. Have officials come to f'n china to inspect the gear going up if it's all legit to allay any concerns.

They're doing stuff on the moon and planning a Mars trip so why aren't we all up in arms about this?

It's simple, all they have to do is leave all of Ukraine to have peace, if Vlad has to die for it to happen, too bad Vlad. Nobody will invade Russia, there is no external existential threat, they made a grab for turf and it failed catastrophically. They are just gonna have to get over it or commit national suicide by trying to use a nuke while being watched like a hawk. Using a nuke in Ukraine would see them become a nuclear power themselves one day, they signed them away for a peace agreement that was broken on multiple occasions. Either they would have their own or Uncle Sam would have them 300km from Moscow on the Ukrainian border after cutting a deal.

Vlad is in a trap of his own creation and is about to repeat his original mistake by attacking in mud season again, or being forced to. This time he is betting the farm on a desperate roll of the dice and if he loses, he might find a window to fly out of. Even if Vlad is gone, the sanctions will remain until there is regime and an attitude change in Russia, but they must be out of Ukraine and perhaps Georgia to have peace. Then there is the question of Belarus, effectively under Russian occupation and propping up Lukashenko, who's army refused to invade Ukraine repeatedly.

Mistakes have been made by the West,vague promises to both Ukraine and Russia upon the Soviet Union's breakup and each sides perception of those statements,not a firm enough response by both Ukraine and the West upon Putin's 2014 action seemed to empower him for more,not sending in arms to bolster Ukraine prior to invasion and then arming them piece meal is ambiguous and shows that the West also is confused about how this ends and is backing stalemate possibly in the hopes of Putin dying or being replaced,playing the waiting game because they know damn well this is a dangerous,complex problem w/varying historical interpretation that involve perceived slights,egos,and nukes.

First defeat them and drive them out, let the lawyers worry about the war crimes at the peace table, while you are holding all the cards. Preferably by destroying as much of their military, economic and diplomatic power as possible, war crimes help with destroying their diplomatic power. The only long term security for Ukraine and hope for freedom for Belarus is to suck in as much as possible into Ukraine and destroy as much of it as you can, leave them with nothing after rolling the dice and losing. Make them attack during mud season, if they are gonna have a big offensive anyway. The timing of the tanks and other shit we are giving them couldn't be better (strategy) to make them use up their men and equipment before the new stuff arrives. When it does arrive and they are ready for a spring offensive, how much of the Russian army will be left to oppose them?

The big idea here is to break the Russian military as completely as possible before driving them out of Ukraine in humiliating defeat. All the while inflicting the maximum number of casualties on them, while keeping your own losses to a minimum. They can't project power beyond 50km of their rail supply heads now in any meaningful way, so driving them to the border and destroying the rail bridges behind them will both trap those already there and keep others out. They will need large numbers of prisoners to swap for kidnapped Ukrainian civilians.

The network arranged trips to occupied Crimea for European politicians and businessmen, with travel and accommodation covered by Russian state-funded organizations and honoraria apparently offered to some individuals.
It also helped bring European political figures to Russia to act as election observers, with a 68,000-euro budget allocated to the project.

Since Russia launched its brutal invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, condemnation of Vladimir Putin’s overseas aggression has reached a fever pitch. As far as why Russia would attack Ukraine, you are strangely ignoring the elephant in the room: Russia wants their territory and industrial capacity. Ukraine has a better economy than post-Soviet Russia.

Not to mention the buffer of land for a non NATO nation and Crimean access to Black Sea, which on the south side is everything and why Ukraine forces blew up the bridge.

I'm sure we're waiting on that someone within the trusted circle will act via CIA, MOSAD (if Israel is in they should be; always begging on our door step) MI6, DGSE. Probably not. Kyyiv to Moscow is 500 miles.

Also, Ukraine has played it smart by avoiding such “strategic civilian targets”. With 150-mile weapons (and the drones for forward air control and hit assessment) they can play all sorts of hob with Russian rear-area logistics.
And logistics win/lose wars.
