This is what a democrat will tell you...and he's right.
republicans would never have the nerve, or the integrity, to tell this simple truth. they would invent a whole new mythology to avoid saying a few true words.
Article 5 says that they need 3/4ths of states to ratify anything. That's 37 states...They only have 31, and are about to lose a few more as the effects of their gerrymandering campaign can't be further expanded. They're at the limit of ridiculousness.which is why the Article 5 push is classifiable as a delayed action in the Civil War.
It makes me think of the scene in the movie where the Balrog has been cast into the abyss, and at the last moment its whip snakes up and snags Gandalf.
230 years this rot has hidden at the core of our founding documents. Like the scene in that other movie where the guy wakes up from a bad time and wants to eat way too much crappy Chinese food.
Look how nearly the fix was in coupla years ago.Article 5 says that they need 3/4ths of states to ratify anything. They're so happy to talk about people moving to blue states, but that just means more magats crammed into the same gerrymandered districts, and the districts they held in swing states can now be converted to blue districts. So in a few more years, they'll only hold 29, then a few years after that, 27, then a few years after that, they'll be lucky to hold 25.
it would be worse, i would damn sure try to make it so...for themLook how nearly the fix was in coupla years ago.
I worry they may be stacking the deck for one big push. It would be a catastrophe on the order of the late unpleasantness.
It's worth worrying about.Look how nearly the fix was in coupla years ago.

I don't think you are wrong. I just don't think "it could be worse" is reassuring.it would be worse, i would damn sure try to make it so...for them

I'd be happy to vote for Raskin, He has a good record and isn't afraid to tell the truth. I wish him luck on his treatment.Curious if anyone knows any big scandals that are preventing Jamie Raskin from being the obvious successor as the leader for the Democrats? There are a stock disclosure issues I have seen and his wife using connections and influence that she financially benefited from, but that is every politician is it not? It may be the algorithm applying my bias, but he certainly appears to check all the right boxes to be the ideal torchbearer for the party.
There are some really intriguing people that could potentially run (e.g., Jason Kander), and Obama wasn't that well known before it was obvious he was the right person, so change can happen quickly. Acknowledging that anything can happen; and assuming he responds well to his cancer treatment and stays in politics, is there a better person for Biden to run with in 2024? If Biden decides not to run, is there a better candidate than Raskin?
I sure hope they see to his comfort.
