Didn't know you were a pool guy. My dad was in pools and spas my whole life so I had a spa since I was like 4. Ours is turned off at the moment but I like to use regular bleach in it. My well water already has plent Ca. The water is always crystal clear. I do have to add a little acid though to lower the hardness and pH after adding fresh well water though. But it becomes kind of a saltwater spa I guess. People seem to like it better than bromine.
I'd go to those with my dad and a friend and we would go all around and get all kinds of free shit. The Home Show in the Kindgdome every year was always fun. I'd be in there when it was closed to the public and help set up. We'd roam all over the stadium and go walk around the upper decks. Felt cool being kids to be in all these usually restricted areas.
Yeah, grandpa started the company in 72. I've been there since 2002. But was born into it like an Indian caste system. My uncles took over. Froze my mom out since she was a woman. In return I got froze out. But am a pussy and stayed. Now, uncles are retiring. Cousins are taking over. Told I'm finally getting a piece. We'll see. If nothing materializes… I'm gone after Costa Rica.

Bleach is just 1/2 strength liquid chlorine. Works just fine in smaller bodies that don't get much direct sun.

Ok cool. I got bromine tabs keeping it sterile too
Yeah it's quite a chemistry lesson but once a sodium bromide bank is established all the other chlorines and stuff that are added actually turn into sodium bromine. It is kind of interesting. So if you use enough bromine tabs to start, you pretty much always have a bromine tub and not chlorine. Until you dump the water.

Lots of math and equations lol… https://poolchemistrytraininginstitute.com/bromine-or-chlorine-whats-in-your-pool/

Awesome. My dad had a pool company for awhile but him and his partner weren't smart with the money and bought a boat and shit and when it was time to pay the taxes they didn't have it, lol. My grandpa and uncle were in pools too. We'd all work on jobs together sometimes. $8 and hour was a lot for a kid back then. And the whole family got together and put a pool and in ground spa in at my grandparents house. I would spend a month every summer and I was the hit of the neighborhood because it was the only pool in town.

Lol! I started stocking shelves there when I was like 12. Then was a helper for some years. Then started running my own service crew when I got my dl at 18. Ain't a bad business to be in. Lots of money to be made if you're smart. Other than it being seasonal here that is. We build custom in grounds. And have a service and repair department. Which I'm the manager of. And a retail store. The actual trade on the other hand is weird. Have to be an engineer, chemist, plumber, electrician, HVAC. But I'm just a "pool boy" lol.

i never pictured you as someone who would be into customer service. thought maybe more like me, would love the chance to get violent occasionally. i think retail stores should have a federal mandate where they are allowed to violently assault one customer per month, perfectly legal, and maybe throw in a bonus if you're able to render them disabled for a certain amount of time.
