As a part of a bill critics have dubbed the “Death Star” bill—an expansive law that preempts legislation in eight key areas of local government—the Legislature has overridden local ordinances that require giving workers water breaks. Otherwise known as House Bill 2127, it was signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott on June 6.

Paxton doesn't acknowledge anything other than how badly he says he's being treated by State House members of the GOP. Despite evidence and public testimony from prosecutors, witnesses, fraud victims and whistleblowers, he still seems to have a sizeable faction of Texan voters. They are even calling for the resignation of the Texas House speaker and talk of primarying of Republicans who voted to impeach him. A whopping 60 Republicans out of 60 out of 86 Republican legislators in the House voted to impeach him. Only 26 voted to acquit him. It's amazing that Paxton could have done enough to get them to vote to impeach him. After all, Trump is still their guy no matter how much evidence has been produced on him.no testify from Paxton

Dude...I'm so sorry the state you live in sucks. I stick by my statements that when you meet a dude from the south or rural areas while living in the northeast or on the coasts...hang out with them as it's going to be a rad time. But damn, fuck that state and the horse it rode in on.

I've met some really good people from Texas, some not so much. I'd bet the same could be said about people from California. Regarding those I met from the East Coast who moved to CA while I lived there. I had a saying. The problems we had in CA were not from CA natives but people from the East Coast who came to CA to get away from the crappy people there and brought the crap with them. So many people moved to CA with their attitude. Brought the state down.
yep, CA conservatives. Mostly old, mostly nearing retirement, mostly conservative, mostly anti-immigrant, mostly anti-govt, are selling their homes at a yuuuge profit and moving elsewhere. And bringing the neighborhoods down with them. Their CA real estate money pushes up housing prices wherever the go.
They really are. Tbh most of who I meet now are pretty middle class folks that didn't buy early enough or their starter home+salary didn't go up enough to to get them out of a shitty area in LA.
I have morphed from an East Coast Republican to a West (almost, desert) Coast liberal.
That was something I noticed moving from the midwest to Boston as a young fellow. Their republicans were not the same as the ones in the midwest/south, that have gone on to dominate the party on a national stage.
The conservatives I remember were more polite but, at bottom, as radical. I saw the libertarian deviation already in full play some 45 years ago.
I don’t think outreach is a viable option when the mental poison of maga is driving a wedge between “follower” Republicans and a more centrist/liberal philosophy of government.
