Clone vs S1

Also, decades of prohibition, "strain hunters" and the like have taken their toll. Not to mention actual locals just improving their crops. When you google for landrace seeds, you mostly get hybrids.

Ultimately, where do gringo stoners get landraces? How many of these guys are buying sacks of weed on vacation, mailing home the seeds, chucking more and declaring it a "landrace" ??
Well, very useful message.Could you share more knowledge with me?I am interested learning more....

So many myths and psuedo science.
Silver nitrate will not mutate the fem pollen jiZz dna.
There are other natural chemical hormones that can cause polyploidy but digress.

An S1 is not a clone or an F2 or a hermie or a mutant it's:

Pollen carrying for example fem polllen dna which will mesh with itself that is a. F1 b. F2-4, IBL (landrace, whatever), S1-5 or Bx1-5 mother. So if mom is ibl, s1 is an ibl of low variance (hopefully u discard the shitty ones anyways). If mom is a polyploid fuckfest fem semi auto hybrid, you should get a good amount of variance MoRe if F2 since sis n bro will have more dna than just sis n sis.

I guess i could have just showed pics.

S1 via sts branch and luck (barely got sacks heheh) 2 S1s of the 10 or so i made (all grey n fat seeds similar to mom but paler)
S1 hybrid pheno 15972910743276707330878367163906.jpg
Sativa pheno (mutant shitty gg4 ibl on the left)15972911428206703592047854908119.jpg
Spicier stem rub vs the indica pheno is very fruity sweet skunk. Mom smelled like granny fragrance.
Sorry the look like crap they just testers i transplanted late puttem outside.

yes it means your plant is genetically a selfpolinating plant.at least 1/4 of the seeds should not self polinate.if you are lucky
When the original Gorilla Glue #4 was a "clone-only" plant, I bought several 8ths of the flower in my local retail shop, over the course of time. Every now and then, I'd get a bud that had some perfectly-ripe seeds in it. So, of course, I saved every one. I assumed they were made from 'nanner-pollen. I decided to grow one of them out to see if it would turn out with the Gorilla Glue #4 flavor.....and it kinda did! It wasn't a high-yielding plant but it was very tasty -in a similar-but-not-exactly kind of way. I haven't tried to grow any more of them but now I'm curious. It's been awhile and now GG#4 isn't even a big thing anymore!

It never should have been that big, at least without more work done to the line. It was herm-prone from the start which is a clear indication that someone down the line chose "frosty buds" over genetic stability.

I supposed that would depend on which qualities the grower was trying to stabilize, right? My understanding is that GG#4 has a lot of Chemdog genetics in it...and, if the story about the original Chemdog strain is true, then it, too, was from some bag seed. I know that LOTS of strains were made using some remnant of the Chemdog line in them and, in fact, my guess would be that, at some point, ALL modern hybrids probably have some bag seed in them.

Plenty of Chem crosses out there that aren't as unstable as Chem, or GG for that matter

And that's kinda my point.. .. i feel like GG is the result of caring more about the short-term look and potency of the weed rather than the long-term effects the genetics will have on the overall scene.

But isn't that because everyone is always searching for the holy grail?

Back in the 70's we didn't even know what a trichome was. Most of the weed didn't look frosty at all. It wasn't until the Vietnam war happened/ended that people started bringing in Thai weed and all those weird SE Asian strains and people started trying to grow "sinsemilla" and started noticing the trichomes. Before all that, good weed basically looked like dried, leafy turds and smelled like a skunk that had eaten too many blueberries and died. And that's also when growers started to look for plants that didn't stink as much -and ended up "stabilizing" smell and taste out of the plants. So, now that the laws have relaxed, everyone is trying to get some kind of weirdo plant to appear that has somehow retained some of that old school funk. Maybe if and when that happens, then someone can undo the no-smell/taste stability eventually.

Like most good clones it was a total accident. No one selected or did anything down the line. One plant developed a male flower and pollinated another plant. The resulting seeds popped, #4 was awesome. Josey Wales then freely shared it for free far and wide. End of story.

Tell that to my homie who used to stand in line for 5 hrs to pay $250 for a few clones back in like 2010

s1= a mother plant pollenized by male flowers form a separate mother of the same strain and seed batch will produce several variations in phenos..
This wouldn’t be an S1. A SEPARATE mother of the same strain and seed batch is not the same plant
S = SELF. A separate plant is not the same plant.

true but if your plant makes seed and both seeds are from the same parents they both have same genetics(similar) in the end you will get the same plant with some variations but its a inbreed self

Selfed means pollinated by the same genotype. It is normally the case that the pollen donor is a separate mother plant but it has to have the same genotype (i.e. a clone) to make selfed seeds.
