I'm trying corn for the first time. And it's actually colonizing a lot quicker than the birdseed. I knocked these Monday night it's only Thursday and these jars have growth all over them. And with the same syringe I did the bird seed and they Barely have any growth at all. It's my first time using it and with my luck. I'll have problems down-the-line with it somewhere LOL.17001453926223690662487287382057.jpg

So I played around with making making my grandjars a little on the dry side and using a lot more lc, and it seemed to work Pretty well. I nocked these jars with 5 ml of lc 10 days ago. They were actually fully colonized a couple of days ago I just haven't gotten around to spawning them yet..17001460872357713868174231724568.jpg

Hey man sorry, I don't fully understand so what was the outcome of the experiment? Was it the coco bliss or was it bucket tek that was failing. Are you saying That you had a lot more success pressure cooking the Coco.
Every single bag that i just loaded up with the bucket tek’d(in coolers) coco bliss turned green in less than a week after adding spawn. Same spawn i used in the others which is what i normally do now which is I bucket tech the cvg just to be able to break it up, then I load into fruiting bags and PC then spawn. I dont ever lose any this way, or hardly any. I do all of it in front of a flow hood.
I will never trust the coco bliss without PC’ing it.

Your corn is a tad undercooked especially if you are fruiting from spawn (which you don't seem to do...it's just a short cut anyway).
The trick is to be sure the kernels are completely colonized, like if you figure it's done wait another few days anyway.

I have always had great luck with popcorn, next is rye, next grass seed wbs is, in my opinion, crap.

As I said, you deliver a great deal of extra nutrients when you use an abundance of corn to spawn with. And, if you use a lot of spawn you don't much have to worry about the number of innoculation points.

Corn is the best choice for slurry spawning, the pH drops slowly and if you mix it with water crystals you can get huge, HUGE second and third flushes.

It's hard to over saturate or overcook corn, it produces less starch than rye and even when the kernels burst you still have a viable mass.
I have also never seen corn overly contaminated like rye.

Does your bird seed burst?

I used the same syringe for both and I did them both on the same day. These are only 5 days old and there's a clear winner. I didn't expect the corn to colonize that fast so I forgot to check on it and it almost colonized the whole jar so far and I haven't even shaken them

, I'm going to try this just to see if maybe that could be it. So I'm going to bucket Tek the CVG but I'm going to have to use jars because I have no bags on hand. How would I go about this with jars? What I need to modify the lid with a filter patch and how long at what PSI would I cook?

How large is you pressure cooker?
You could always use a turkey bag.
when i’m sterilizing some bulk, for a casing layer, i fit a whole batch of CV into one XLS bag and into the pressure cooker for 2.5hrs at 15psi. I tape the flap down with a little piece of packing tape. I’m not sure how long you would do smaller batches for but if you filled the pressure cooker up with jars i’d do 2.5hrs.
you could always just crack open the jar lids so they don’t explode.

OK nice thanks for that. I'm gonna try this today. I have the Presto pressure cooker that everybody uses. So I'm first going to try this using the jars and then I'll go out and get some turkey bags.

Awesome. And if that fixed all your problems you could experiment and try baking the bricks in the oven and then just do the bucket tek to expand and bring to field capacity. Would prob be easier

I'm trying that then too lol. I just looked and all 100 of my quart jars are full of grain colonizing right now and I was planning on going to Walmart tomorrow to grab turkey bags. But I have jars that really need spawned. So for now I'm going to try baking it in the oven and then bucket-tek. I'll get the bags tomorrow. Regardless I think I'm always going to take this extra step in sterilizing/ pasteurizing coco.

Cook up some grain jars or pf cakes!
I was thinking that the other day. When I used to do BRF cakes and spawn them to shoe boxes I never had problems. Which is kind of strange because It seems a lot less sterile With the 4 holes in the lid that only had micropore tape over them That you stick the syringe tip through when inoculating.

Yeah I use my ac infinity controllers that have the probe.
I think we use the VPD tool to determine environmental variables then use the controllers to make it happen. All that to say,

I'm going to inoculate some jars soon, maybe tomorrow. After inoculation what temp should the jars be kept and what amount of light, if any should they receive? TIA.

I run jars at 80 with ambient light, bags a few degrees cooler.
I don't manage light till casing.
