You want the smallest surface area possible to get the most out of the press. That’s one of the reasons pressing via bottle-tech works so well. Think about the units for PSI (pressure) for a moment.
Pound-force per square inch -> (lbf/in^2). So if the max force for the press remains static independent of area (it does), the pressure (PSI) will increase as the denominator (area) decreases and vice-versa.
Press only one bag at a time, not four, to get the most out of the force you’re applying because less bag to plate surface area means more pressure. The same goes for the opposite: the more you increase the bag to plate surface area, the more you decrease the pressure being applied to the bud inside the bags.
For reference, here’s a picture of my 2.5 ton manual twist press with 5 grams of bud that’s had a 4 month cure being pressed in bottle-tech.
