I just meant during the post Cold War,we in the West could have been less arrogant and dismissive in tone, other than the Holocaust ,and despite the evil Stali ,the suffering in the East in WW2 was off the charts,this in no way is meant to justify what Putin has done,however Russia's history of being invaded permeates the Russian phsyce and is exploitable. I understand all the countries under the Russian sphere of influence couldn't wait to bail (who wouldn't) and eventually some kind of clash was inevitable. To think Russia would divest themselves of Empire somewhat like the English was highly improbable. The Russians don't grasp that control by force certainly doesn't draw people to you it makes them run from you.

I think the trouble with having been less dismissive (were we?) is that the end of the Soviet state immediately brought the gangster state. They put on a cheap thin republic costume to attract Western capital, but an actual republic was stillborn. The fascists were never not entrenched.
I continue to hope against Hope that Nato, especially its big member, will step up with enough aid to let Ukraine repel the invader (and in the mean time inflict the death of ten thousand rat bites). But, clown-shoe Republicans.
The Reps are just obstructing now,linking aid to Ukraine w/border issues,Biden has agreed to provide funding(admits to needed reform) for more border guards,facilities,and toughening asylum standards yet still no deal.Truth is Reps. don't want a deal so they can play politics and continue to rag on the issue for election purposes,plain and simple.WHAT have they done since they gained House control??? The McCarthy circus,kick the can down the road on Gov. funding (about to rear it's ugly head again),the hilarious Santos expulsion,and naming a wolf in sheep's clothing evangelist Speaker who at the core has beliefs that in no way are in tune w/the masses.What a dizzying set of accomplishments,and to think this non functional body can deal w/the impending agenda now on the docket when they return is odds wise akin to hitting on a Powerball ticket.

When you feed a big chunk of your working age men into the meat grinder and scare another big chunk into fleeing the country in fear of also becoming cannon fodder it stands to reason unemployment numbers are going to go down. Dead men don't file for unemployment if that's a thing in Russia.
I think the way Biden has been getting the numbers down is a more acceptable way to do it tho.

The large landing ship Novocherkassk in temporarily occupied Crimea was very seriously damaged as a result of an attack by the Ukrainian Air Force, which can be seen in the satellite images.
reports that the ship had a whack of Iranian drones, no idea if true but it sure went boom..
