Help me start my perpetual garden

Acted a bit late but selected these two for next run and am about to germinate them. Will take 3 months to have clones ready to flip but can have a whole other harvest in between and just give me an extra week to get my kongs krush and WU clones together. Then run those.

Seeds taking forever to arrive didnt help make me decide sooner (these beans are old purchase) and really dont want to run 8 plants just yet. If I find my keepers already I rather run those for a while and slowly try a new bean perferably when I have the 8 plant setup so its just one small plant in a 1.5’ squared area of 8 of them.

So that way I am testing it one at a time and in small amounts. That way I can get to stable ground faster where I am obtaining my rosin goals. These are perpetuating fast, looking at the last 3-4 weeks of flower. Any tips hollar at me.

Edit the 4 week rooting cutting process also pushed things back, before I knew it I realized I needed to have beans in place right now vegging but here I go. Loving the banana weed, lemon gas which appearently taste like watermelon and now a couple more to possibly mother. Would like a cheese variety.

Oop, just read a thread all about that, its a tough task finding cheese. I grew 00cheese my first grow from what, 00 seeds is it? It smelled cheesy as it grew but thats it but I didnt know about dry/cure yet and wasnt done the best.

But bluecheese, idk the breeder but in 2010 I used to keep seeing this distictive blue cheese come up that only managed to find one time post legal in stores, then many knock offs and just never had it again.

But it reaked of cheese, tasted cheesy with hint of blueberry some times. Sometimes reminicent of blue cheese like the cheese itself. So long ago but if I saw it again Id first shit brix like yup thats it and if I could grow it I would even though I moved on to 100% rosin is the goal. Its not a frosty strain, like 14% thc.

Cheesilicious if Im lucky will have a similar amount of cheese smell but is said its highly accompanied by fruit smells and Im an enthusiast for cheese weed if its possible. But ya lots of talk of breeders only wanting fruit candy cake smells.

I havent had banana weed very much at all so I am very happy to start off with one.

Exploded in growth over night. Welcome to the garden Tropical Punch. Cheese didnt pop so I put a new seed from recent purchase, gushers x gelato 33 from buds n roses.

Probably will pop. My old seeds seem to be hit or miss. Might pop days later being a late bloomer but for all I know I could get a male again. If I got extra I will just put in half gal, take a few cuttings for good measure. Run it in my 8 half gal setup. Toss clones if I dont want to hold it.

I read gelato heritage makes rosin, high chance and so far the same source was right about gg4 and chemdog. Hoping it does but not much info on frost or cannabinoid content. Same with the Tropical punch but some info on it hinting to yielding rosin.

These are just for now until I get setup with the strains I have and love enough now. Sure to yield rosin and be amazing smoking weed. Very frosty and one plant is said to be good for extracts. Tricky when they say that because they can mean BHO.

When they say rosin I jump on it because they know what I am looking for. Aside from marketing hype but thats something they usually dont BS on. But strength and frost etc they all seem to claim to be the best.

Im giving it 1.1ec maxibloom to see if I ever needed to bother to make separate one week solution weak enough for seedlings its just a pita. So just pushing myself so see if I can make this a thing in a perpetual setup. Same with clones but Im desperate for these clones to survive so I will try this on the next batch of clones.

So they got the one week treatment but straight to maxi bloom 1.1 ec. So far so good.

Clones are starting to grow leafs finally. I think having 8 plants will be tough but maybe can work with these strains until I am ready to have each row a different strain.

Nervous going into spring/summer with a packed tent. Im already pushing it but could simply down size plants but 8 of them might over do it.

Ive had enough stress and could use some smooth sailing. I know its possible, where everything doesnt have to be cranked to the max.

Less yield but a sure thing vs wondering where the first mold infection will appear.

The kongs krush is growing notably where the watermelon seems barely starting to catch up like it was in rooting phase. Slightly behind. I see more new growth on top overnight and assumed its about to take off too.

I really like the Kongs krush though a smaller denser yielder but the watermelon isnt yielding very big. The buds are notably smaller. Plant lucky for me didnt need the full 2.5x2.5 space where the kongs krush happily filled in.

That made things work out for a lucky first try sure but I am less fond of the watermelon but will still run it for now if it continues. I love the lemon smell and is said to taste out of this world.

But the colas are pretty small for a 3 gallon and already wonder how much smaller the Kk buds will be in a half gal vs 3gal. If the WU doesnt yield good enough it will be the first to go.

I think I might run two smaller plants in 1-2 gallons and just do the same thing but yield less. The energy bill gets so high in summer it will count against me.

I can try having one side younger than the other which seemed to of helped me up until the otherplant entered mid flower.

Trying to get to the point where my dehuey is only on so often, set to 45rh. With my last run highly under loaded canopy the dehuey was barely on.

New question though, if I plant clones in 1/2 gallon to 1 gallon, how much smaller would the buds be compared to the mother in a 3 gallon pot, vegged for 5-6 weeks?

The clones would be similar veg time due to needing 30 days to root. 2 week veg and flip to fill 8 plants in 2.5x5. 1.5 square foot per plant. Perfect symmetry.

I am new grower who only tinkered with larger pot sizes. I dont know what to expect and cannot ask this unless I had a mother and clone of it, which I do. Might not be something that can be answered but just checking.

I should see my answer relatively soon because I am highly considering doing it anyway but then again, if this strain makes me happy, I might just repeat what I just did.
The size or your buds isn't related to your pot size.

The size of your plant and its ability to be sustained by a root zone is related to pot size, generally speaking.

Have you not seen any of the party cup challenge grows?

I have half a mind to chop this plant but only 6 and half weeks flower. 90% of it is done but colas were starting to fall over which I harvested. Also harvested colas that were suddenly barried in foliage from both plants.

Colas are starting to fall over which is scaring me. A net would of been better. I guess lst clips cannot beat nets when it comes to that. But use plastic not threaded nets.

I have a hard time believing this can be almost done in 6 weeks butbhere we are. Ripes from top down. Most the canopy is ready. When I perpetuate I will have good results with this finishing in about 7-8 weeks.

Breeder says 8-9 weeks but I guess this is the first time thats not only the case but is choppable even earlier then that if youre into that. I dont like waiting till amber. I guess I am wondering if this is ok to chop it just feels counter intuitive being so damg early but its mostly done.

Wow! Overnight the Kongs krush clone really took off, its about to explode in growth and so is the watermelon which was always a little behind in growth to the KK. Geeked! The WU dont yield too well but cannot wait to taste it smoking and dabbing.

So its official, I am holding onto KK and WU genetics.

The tropical I used this mylar for now but realized its a good way to keep seedlings propped. Just lay over the cup.

Edit they dont look much different now that I compare pics but I can just tell by the new green growth overnight and the KK is starting to straighten its stem like my last slumped clone did.

Pretty close to going perpetual, about to start the first round of clones. I have the mother in a 1x1 cabinet, holds 4. 3 mini and 1 full size.

How would you grow out the mother to have 8-10 cuttings every 10 weeks? I dont want to mess up. I notice the bonsai mother makes 4 cuttings quickly.

Is it better to have to equal size or could I top this and just work my way down a flattened canopy?

No expirience with mothers Im barely started seeing how you work down to last node or the whole branch is dead.

If thats the answer that makes sense, just dont cut the last node and have one or grow out a limb and have multiple, working your way down.

Id have chance to take a couple cuts each clone before flower that the cabinet mother cuttings wont always be needed. More of a storage cabinet for my best strains found which is on hold right now.

Just trying to make a few successful rounds before looking for more genetics.

If you are only taking cuttings every 8-10 weeks then you will just have to constantly trim back the mother plant in between to keep its size down.

Or maybe air layer the clones like the one poster suggested a while back.

either way a healthy mother plant will grow a ton in 8-10 weeks. I used to cut my Clones every 3ish weeks and my mothers always grew back plenty of fresh growth for the next batch.

I may have clones way to early, can you plant in cups or 4” flora flex pots and transplant them to let them grow out a little more but still trimmed back?

I hate being in the position to check for roots on a time crunch to find no roots. Almost panicked that I would be set behind substantially.

I already have to make space for two more clones just to have two rounds ready at the very least. This harvest will dictate if I can run one less clone and have two rounds in one tent.

If not I will need an extra space which im willing to do. Can I transplant to one gallon and grow as normal?

The mother plants I just tossed look like they could of flowered to answer my question, could be wrong.

On another note as I keep going with this I will build practice/confidence on my rooting and could manage a normal grow. By taking what I need and when I need it.

Until then Im avoiding hand watering but dont want to toss clones. Dont want to be in the described panick situation.

Air layering is tricky and just cant visualize how id make it work without the same issues. Im entry level. I try my hardest to hear out all suggestions though.

Topping at 4th node changed the canopy management game. It sits so low and wide. I think itl make a nice canopy.

The ones topped at 5-7 node arent the same, denser center and shallow edges.

So what about topping again like I just did? I feel like its the same effect but on all four corners of the center.

It doesnt need scrogging yet. Its I guess a demonstration that topping is alternative to scrogging. Cool, just saying.

How to perpetuate? Find strain. Take cuttings. Veg. Take cuttings before flipping clones. Flip clones, pot new ones. Repeat. Idk why I struggled to understand that.

Anyway I dont want open thread for this so il just ask here.

How do seeds naturally make it to the ground in the wild to germinate? Do the colas droop, fall off and rot, then germinate? Just curious. I tried asking google.

Is there a name for this process and isnt it similar to other fruits? Id think so but plants can grow stiff and well shoot idk lol. I didnt know anything anout plants until I grew weed recently.

I then wondered if they get wet how do they stay dormant until next season if it snows or gets too cold. I thought once a bean gets wet it gets going and once it wasnt able to its dead tissue.

Also how does it sow itself a few inches underground, just raining it in and rotting? Sorry if these are dumb questions its just nothing I can find info on. Like, how did the plant learn to clone when it would barely get a chance to fall into the dirt deep enough to root.

That process alone is another interesting one. To see a timelapse of that happening with no human intervention. Maybe just dumb questions that you can assume, maybe many generations of plant training.

Reminds me of I think called speciation. When sub species emerge. Like ruderalis. Some of the coolest science field I looked into.
