What did you accomplish today?

Spent most of the day yesterday trying to remove a toilet seat. There's always that one screw. Got tired of messing with it and drilled the beggar out. Of course it was loose enough to spin by then. Vice grips to the rescue, new seat is installed.

Cut the grass/mulched some leaves, cleaned out vegetable garden, and put away tomato cages. Sweetgum tree leaves are pretty this time of year.

We had a big sweetgum in the front yard- I hated that tree. Last tree in the area to lose it's leaves, and those spiky balls were horrid

The top had split into 2 tops, and then one of them got broken in a windstorm so it looked like shit, then a couple years later another windstorm took out some big branches- one of them fell right behind the car in the driveway ('02 Focus wagon), but I thought it missed. No such luck as one of the smaller limbs had left a small dent in the rear edge of the roof before the hatch. That was the night my wife's father passed away at 96. I used a manual pole saw to remove as many of the lower limbs that I could manage, then my friend brought his Husqvarna chainsaw and diesel pickup over and we felled it in the middle of the street, bucked it up and that was the end of it.

In January we had a severe ice storm here, and the neighbor across the street had a couple of sweetgums that got hammered, as did our beautiful Japanese Maple

~10 seconds after I took that pic I slipped on the ice in the driveway and broke my arm and ruptured my bicep
