GTs 2009 SoCal outdoor grow

I just made a garlic, clove, cinnamon tea that I will spray on the girls, pure organic and I've heard it works the best. I think grasshoppers want mine, so its time to spray...and the stuff that was a solid I will put around the soil so it will last a little longer. Let me know if ya want the brew recipe

Sure. I am always looking for a way to kill bugs. That brew of yours should make your girls taste prety spicy.

I use a certified organic spray called Greenlight Lawn and Garden with Spinosad. I havent read it for anything other than caterpillars and thrips. I also use some dish soap or a wetting agent which kills aphids. You can eat fruit the day after you spray. THere is a pic of the bottle a few posts back. Lets see your recipe.

Ok here is your weekly update. I have 2-3 more males to pull but only one I am sure. The other 2 are a little slow to show conclusively. All the plants seem to be growing very well in their new pots with the modified supersoil. The males that I dug up were already putting roots out almost to the edge of the pots.

I have a pic of the boys corner where I have assembled the mens club. Im thinking of substituting one WC male (nice branching and good internodal spacing) for the first WC (lankier and not so much branching) to pop from the rapid rooter. I am glad I identified it as the first out and it is also the tallest plant of all the strains I have. The HJ male is stout with good branching and nodal spacing and has a dank smell to it at this early age.

I only have one JTR so she will be an old maid.

The pics are of both grow areas in my yard. Enjoy

Lookin like its coming along nicely...what size pots are those?

Hey Zig Zag. 20 gal. I made approximately 30 cuft of soil and left the soil about 6-inches from the top. Im using a modified supersoil recipe on some (so water only) and GH maxi G&B and Maxsea G&B on others. Since I only have a lot of WC those are what Im using. To be really accurate I should have used clones of the same strain but this will be a rough estimate of the benefits of 3 different types of NPK supply :blsmoke:

lookin great man...next year im gonna have my usual big girls in holes...but im gonna get some 20 gal pots like yours too...ive heard great things about that maxsea...plants love that shit huh! isnt that what hodge uses too? anyways man keep up the good work...

Well its meant for the foliage around them and the ground as a barrier. So I'll take:
2 Garlic cloves; Cup of Clove leaves, 5-6 tablespoons of cinammon; Gallon of water. Break up materials, mix and sit. Let water come to a simmer, add materials, heat on high for 3-5 minutes...then turn off to brew. Stir and cover. Should be an amber color, strain materials..dry out and place around soil, spray 'garlovemon' around.

Your plants are lookin nice.. :) are you not worried about spreading pollen to those females?

THx for the recipe. Im not worried about pollinating alot of the female plant since only preflowers are showing at the moment. I have pulled 4 males so far and I have 3 left. Those 3 dont have the pollen sacks hanging yet and I am watching them so I can collect the pollen. Two I will use for pollen parents. Out of 17 plants 11 are female or about 65%. I will try to clone one to make it 12 but that last one will be a lot smaller due to the late start.

ive heard great things about that maxsea...plants love that shit huh! isnt that what hodge uses too? anyways man keep up the good work...

Thx for the kind words you guys. Yea I got the idea for Maxsea from Hodgegrows. That stuff is nuclear fertilizer. It is hard to get in SoCal (or impossible). I also tried to get Age Old Nutes but I ran into a roadblock there too. I could of had them shipped but I was already using 3 different nute regimes so I just will have to wait until next grow.

Im thinking about gettin some sent to me..Ive seen sites where I can get it...haha it must be some nuclear ferts...I can tell is does good

THe plants are doing well since the sun has decided to show up for most of the week. I have moved some more plants so they get more sun.

The JS strain seems to be pulling away from the remainder of the other strains. The others are not far behind though.

I have pulled most of the males while I have kept the 2-3 I really like. I go out and pick hanging balls but I think Im going to pull the plants and see if I can get some pollen to fall on a glass table after a few days in water.

The plants are basically being watered and I have really only fertilized them 2 times since the 20 gal pot transfer. I think they look nice and green. The big fan leaves of most are about as big as my hand.

THe WC are really starting to branch now while the JS seem to be branching and getting big. The lone JTR is becoming a bush almost as wide as tall but still short in stature.

My lone HJ girl is trucking right along with short internodal spacing. This is the only plant where the leaves are slightly cupped up. Not sure why.

Since I only had one HJ I decided to make some clones using different starters. I used rockwool, rapidrooters, and Jiffy Pucks. First I got a razor blade and cut some of the lower shoots off the HJ and 2 off a big WC plant (340 note finger for size). Next I removed most of the fan leaves and branches (335) until I had the upper 2 nodes left and the rest of the stem clean (341). I trimmed the remaining fan leaves so none were more than an inch long. I then scrapped the lower inch or so of the stem (343) and placed them into a shallow dish of water pHed and dechlorinated (334). Then I arranged the starters and I got a toothpick to poke some pilot holes in the starters (338). I put a little Dutch Masters cloning gel (337) in the top of a water bottle cap (339) and one by one removed the starts from the water, cut the stem at a 45 degree angle, dipped it into cloning gel, and plunged it into the prewetted starter(344). Once I was finished I cut some plastic soda bottles and inverted them over the clones for added humidity. I spritz them twice a day. They are floating in the aquarium where the water is at 84 degrees. Lets see which one sports roots first out of the 3 HJ in each type of starter.

Well thats it for now. Let me know what you think.

Here's the line up for tonight:

Row 1: WC, HJ, JTR, WC, WC nodes
Row 2: The lineup (r-l: JS, CC, JS, WC, WC), JS1, JS2. WC, WC
Row:3 WC nodal spacing, cloning shots
Row 4: Cloning shots

I think you might need bigger pots to grow in,
those things could be monsters.

They look very healthy.

Hey Earl. Thx for stopping by. Those are 20-gal pots. I should stand next to them next update so you can see how big they are. They may be as tall as I am next week. I think I need to go into the ground next year.

Looking good there greenthumb, let me know your success rate with the Dutch Masters? :-P

every step being carried out carefully and correctly is key.... first 72 hrs after cutting has been taken is very important.... good luck on your next go around, don't forget details ;)
