I took 4 clones off of the lower branches of a plant i have called tooty fruity. i didnt cut them since their about 3-4 inches long i just peeled them off the main stock then dipped them in some dyna-gro rooting liquid for a couple minutes and put them straight into water mixed with a few drops of cloning liquid. this is my first time cloning so you think these should root?

Never "peel"...you need to cut. Aprox. 45% angle is good, then scrape off some of the green plant material (outer layer) at the bottom.
When you peel branches off the main stem, it damages and weakens it...sometimes even making it more apt to attract bugs.

If you are going to try and clone in a glass of water, may I suggest going to your local Walmart or fish store and buy one of those cheap "airstone pump" set ups and put it in the water you are trying to clone in. It will help, as you really need to get air in there to promote root growth.

without an air stone your chances diminish severely. Better off putting those is some moist dirt.

i tried water cloning once. it worked well enough to get me some roots. but when i transplanted it it died. i dont know if i didnt wait long enough or what. i had no airstone. i like cloning in rockwool. preferably with humidity dome, but this last round of clones, im trying to mist them rather than use domes. not sure how its gonna work out im on day 4 and they are kinda droopy, nothing too bad though.

Cut with a knife. You do have a knife...right?

Put into water overnight.

Next day put into moist soil with some kind of plastic dome overhead. (I went super ghetto and used plastic chinese food containers) Mist leaves with spray bottle several times a day. Keep farther away from light than normal...but they still do need light!

I'd exhale into the plastic container everytime after misting and putting the container back over the plant. (giving it my C02)

No root gel...ghetto as farq...I got 1/3 to thrive. She is starting to kick ass and will be flowered soon.

Hey Mari, most cannabis will clone pretty easy. I have used the "water glass" method & it works just fine, you could add a few hundred milligrams of pure aspirin as it contains a natural compound that promotes root development. Try to keep air temp. around 75 degrees +/- 5, light 24/7. OR, you can take your cuttings, trimmed at a 45 degree angle, dip in one the "rooting" gels that are out there, then insert approx. 3 to 4 inches into your "soaked" growing medium,(4" peat pot with Miracle Grow Organic potting soil, is my choice), then the same drill as the water method. I even got adventurous and build a homemade "areo-cloner" this year. NOT expensive! I got a 6 liter tub from the "99cent" store, found an aquarium pump at a thrift store for 2.98, air stones, tubing, & silicone sealer from again, the "99cent" store! The whole thing cost under $10!! Worked great. I've included some pix: #1, is the cloner. #2, is 2 Lemon Skunks, one was areo-cloned, the other was cut, dipped, & directly to the grow medium. As you can see, there is no real difference in the outcome!!
Good luck & good grow.......BBbongsmilie

if i use liquid instead of gel rooting hormones put them straight in some wet dirt will that work? cuz the the gel sticks to it longer/better

Hi Drama, Thanks very much. I've seen these units go for big $$, but my god! they are so easy to replicate with inexpensive items found anywhere. I love the cloning process and tend to get carried away, lol. This year, as in past years
I have WAY too much garden going on. Middle of May, 1st of June, the patio doesn't SEEM that full, so I clone away.
Now, the middle of August, i'm effen buried! "Got a 50 lb. garden in a 20 lb. bag" lol. Guess i'm too damn greedy for my own good.
Good luck & good grow....BBbongsmilie

how long does it normally take a clone to root? i took clones befre putting the plants into flowering 1 week ago. they all look great, no wilting at all. i found that 1 plant was a male so i checked the roots on one of the clones i knew was male and it has no roots yet the clones are in a mixture of 1/2 perlite and 1/2 peat moss. any ideas on how long it takes?

Hey Lucky, could you explain your process in a little more detail? Are you soil or soiless? What kind of container? why perllite & peat moss? How wet? how much light? whats the air temp? All of these factors will determine rooting time.
And a pic or two would really help. Good luck & good grow.......BB

i am useing soil in 5 gallon buckets with drainage holes for the adults.
i am useing perlite and peat moss in 12 oz plastic cups with drain holesbecause it is light and arie, this works great for starting seeds. the clones are in a plastic container with a lid that i raised a 1/2" for some air. i soaked the medium well before putting the clones in and i used rooting hormone. i have added a little 1/2 strength fert. a couple of days ago and i sprey them 3 to 4 times a day with water. i am useing 2 25 w cfl one 2700k and 1 6500k. the lights are 3" above the lid or 8" above the plants and are on 24/7 .the temp in the room in in the mid 70's
i have had good success with clones in the past and these look great. i have not grown for a few years and forgot how long it takes to root.
