vinegar huh, how so and which kinds?? i would like to down my ph to about 6.7 from 7.0.
White vinegar.
But I'm not sure how to apply it. Do you mix it with water and nutes, if so, at what ratio? I bought some PHup and PHdown, would using the PHup work the same way? Could I gradually over compensate the PHup to achieve the same results?
the ph up would work over time, i would go with the lime method proposed below. sounds simple, and i think it would be more gradual then adding in liquid ph up. funny we are having the same problem kind of.. just vice versa. your down on ph and im up.. your soil reading @ 5.6 IS REALLY prob 5.0 from what im getting.. and my soil reading @ 6.8 is really like 7.8.. way too high.
anyways lets sort these out and get some healthy pics up..
I use Fox Farm. Which one(s) did you get? And what flavor of Gardener & Bloome do you have. I looked and they have a bunch of different mixes.
If your poured 6.5ph water in and 5.6 came out the bottom that means the soil PH must be LOWER than 5.6. ( the 6.5 water + the actual soil PH averaged out to 5.6) So thats too low. Your P.def is more the result of the soil Ph than the mix up on the nutrient strength.
Time for lime.
I'm not sure how to add it midstream though, I start with it already on the boat lol
???I'm thinking about a teaspoon to a tablespoon to start with??, on top of the soil and wated in. It will slowly raise the PH. Also contains many beneficial trace elements
I use a 1/2 cup fine dolomite lime to about 80 quarts of soil in my mix.
Theres a lot of peat in my mix which turns soil acidic over time. The lime keeps the ph in check. But too much is bad news too.
What's the plan super man? lol
nice advice..
A few drops of vinegar will lower a gallon of 7ph water to about 6.6. I use organic apple cidar vinegar.
what about white distilled vinegar?
would this help to adjust my soil from 8 to 7ph.. how would i go about this? flush and than retest if its not stable should i add the couple drops of vinegar to my waterings and hope it lowers over a couple days??
