I don think we are discussing rudeness... we r all potheads and pretty lax about alot of things. But to be verbally attacked because you like to use LEDs? or think that Lumatek is a better ballast etc? that's what has got to change. Constructive critisism, opinions and friendly jabs at one another.. cool. Being a "fuckhead" because I am a newb and maybe a little young or becuase I have misunderstood somthing... uncool.
I know I am repeating the obvious, but I don't want this to get confused with just rudeness or jabs. I think we are trying to curb the abusive comments... I have seen people threatened with death on this site. And although they may have not been intended as serious comments... it is a public forum. Let's use our grown-up words.

I'm guilty of name calling and more than my fair share of cuss words lately. Never used to do it but started getting all worked up about the health care thing.
Anyway as we are all supposed to be adults here I hope cursing stays ok because who cares, it's a normal part of life and this isn't some prissy web site. If you can't handle curse words then you have no business being here is my feeling about it. Compared to talking about how to nearly kill yourself with some of the crap drugs people want to do or cook it's trivial at best.
Personal attacks are tough to give up though, I really like calling someone a complete tool when they are a complete tool but I'll do my very best not to.
But FDD you are just as guilty as ANYONE in the personal attacks department so share the blame my man. We've all seen you do it, usually right before you close a thread so nobody can retaliate.

Well Ive seen cj and his gang (ya some of the staff are members of his gang) chase good people away and as long as they are alowed to terrorize members I see no hope for "intelligent peope" here. But if some one could make them tone it down a notch (or even better just bann all of em and Iam not kidding) man the skys the limit! This site could rock the world!i spoke with rollitup about all the name calling that has been taking place here lately. the debating is fine, it's what this forum is for. the cursing is tolerated but the recent rash of back and forth name calling has really muddied things up here. it is getting in the way of some good information and opinions. even if i don't agree with you i am interested in what you have to say. when you say it with insults it defeats the whole meaning.
it was suggested that we simply close this section. i said "no". like stated above, there is some really good stuff here. if we could just try to remember that we all come here to "get away". this is one of the only places we can be open with what we do and feel. lets not get this forum closed. please.
i understand "times are hard" and people are fed up. but this isn't a townhall meeting. we have rules and will start enforcing them. we are taking mod applications and are loooking for some people who might want to get involved in some writing. rollitup would once again like to try to start some type of newsletter. i see a lot of intelligent peope here. not a whole lot of text slang being throw around in this froum. so the appearance of literacy has led me to this forum to see what you all think. we would offer free elite membership to anyone working on a projection. we have a new sever now and have some room to play around. anyone want to get involved?
i would like this to be a thread for positive discussion on how we can continue to make RIU a happy place. thanks.

Yeah, CrackerJax is the biggest cyber bully I've ever met. I moderate two forums and based upon our stipulations (which are more or less the same as RIU's), he would have been banned a LONG time ago. He bullies countless people off this site. I don't understand how he's still here. Can't disagree that this could be the cause of some sniping behavior.When ppl call me names and the insults start to fly..... I know I'm hitting home runs. Almost all personal attacks on the POL threads are to detract from a previous post which just nailed their position into an ideological coffin

I dont know but I do know that the vibe of this site goes down with each and every one of his posts. Even when he thinks he is being funny. I know with out a doubt that 90% of the name calling in these political threads is from cj and his gang. If any one would take the time to check it it is sooooo clear. Get rid of the cj gang and just stand back cus this site could change the world! And that was me trying reallllly hard to not say what I realy feel about ummmm cj and gang. Peace!
i have no problem admitting i insult people. i apologize and will do my best to stop. i do not close threads because i feel i'm loosing an argument, though. as much as it appears that way. i may throw in one last insult in, but it's never out of spite. winning online means nothing to me. when it gets out of hand and i ask that people stop and they don't i close it. so in a way i guess you may be right.

This kind of stuff is really taking off, people are building some cool stuff. I know someone who is a planning a vertical aero system.

Feel free. I'm so tired of Cracker's bullying. I have reported numerous posts of his, to no avail. What else should I do? Should I be another of CJ's victims, leaving RIU on account of his name-calling and vitriol? This is one of the few forums I inhabit for pleasure. I like this site. I just hate what the name-callers and bullies do to sites like this. So I apologize for calling CJ out, but he needs it. He needs it. So I am not name-calling. I am speaking truth. There are clearly other who feel victimized by CJ as well based on the frequency that he gets called a bully. At least five or six times in the last week or two, he's been called out and nothing happened. Why is he more important than the numerous others he's driven away? Why? And how am I violating rules by sticking up for people who are tired of his bullying?nice personal attacks. should i just start right here?
I respect you fdd and understand how difficult it can be as a moderator on a high frequency site. But my point is cut and dry. I speak as someone with year's of moderating experience. So do what you will. The only reason I post here anymore is to mitigate all the damage and doom stemming from CJ. I honestly feel bad for the victims.
