sativa dominant it is me and my man were about to go to bed when we decided to test some of the widow after a two week cure..gurl we were up to 6am talkin shit...really social chatty head high...next time im going to let it ripen longer for a more body stone..but i love it great daytime weed
YAY, exactly what I need! I often just suffer because I don't want to be knocked out all day. This coming from a seriously chronic insomniac too, go figure! Long story short.... I was severely over-medicated for 6.5 years (psychotropics for the bipolar), and I've almost no memories whatsoever from those years. Including, and most upsetting, is having lost memories with my kids. Needlessly to say, I have a strong aversion to being drugged up constantly, even from the wonderful high that pot provides. (I haven't taken a psychotropic since 2002, and never will again!) I may not like much of what life now offers me, but I still want to be aware enough of my surroundings to remember at least some daily events.

I'll let the indicas do the nighttime work, and the sativas for daytime pain management. :D

great post kat, +REP

ima look into LST some more
Much thanks, Fro! One of these years I might write up a "tutorial" (so to speak) on LST. Not so much "how" to tie the plants; that's the easy part. ;) Many people think that LST's benefit is allowing for light to penetrate as many potential bud sites as possible. While this does happen, it's really only a "bonus" to LST; a side effect. The initial effect is, like toppping, redistributing the auxins (growth hormones) from focusing mainly at the top of the plant to the lower branches. This is the main reason for the sudden growth of the dormant bud sites, because the redistribution of the auxins basically "tricks" the plant into thinking that the lower branches are now all "main" colas. Of course, the main main cola won't be as large as it would if left alone, but you do end up with more buds that are of higher quality and less popcorn buds. This is why even tying the plant down just once will cause so much more growth from the secondary branches, giving a higher overall yield.

Sometimes you can fool with Mother Nature, so long as you play by her rules while you're at it. :hump:

No problem, I didn't even notice till you pointed it out! Word to the wise: don't ever check yourself into a psyche ward, unless you truly have no other recourse. Trust me on this.

Well, I finally a couple of pictures this afternoon. Tied a couple more spots this week, but not much. They're just filling out now, waiting to be allowed to do their thing.

Still don't have the exhaust fan installed! My friend threw out his back something wicked, so he couldn't do it yet. He picked up the fan on Friday, took it home to work on it. (He's mounting it to wood first, as it's too heavy to just hang in there as is.) He's guesstimating Tuesday for when he'll be done and able to come install it. I absolutely can not put these to flower until this is done! Need to close the tent for the darkness, and it is just way too hot to close it without good exhaust! Major heat wave in the Mojave again.... I can't wait for summer to end!

I always left mine open when the lights came on, then, closed it when they went off.

I've thought about doing this, but I worry that I might not be awake in time to open/close the tent. My insomnia doesn't just prevent me from sleeping, but also rarely lets me sleep more than two or three hours at a time. So I'm fatigued all the time, and often doze off without warning. (No, not narcolepsy. Usually when watching TV or doing something else that's mindless. LOL) Plus if we're running an errand and end up taking longer than expected, I wouldn't be here to close it in time. And we're rarely done when initially expected. Right now I'm closing the tent when the lights go off at night, to see if I can keep myself on some kind of "schedule" so that I'm not asleep when it starts getting too warm in the morning. Kind of a test run, you could say. I've also thought about having the lights on at night, so that if I'm not able to open the tent shortly after the lights come on, it won't get too hot in there. The worst of summer is almost over, and I am so ready for autumn! :hump:

Thanks AK! :D Now that I'm out of places to tie these mini forests, there's not much work to do now. Just water/fert, really. ;)

Cant wait to see them blooming, good call on waiting for the fan, can never be too careful
Good call, indeed! I actually slept a bit over seven hours last night, for the first time in months. When I awoke, the room was 64F, and inside the tent it was 86F.... the lights had been on less than one hour! I've got 400W in that tent, and it's shown itself to be too much to keep it closed with the lights on, even at night, without an exhaust fan. I just have to wait till my friend is done mounting the fan so he can come install it. Well, at least they'll have a few days to a week more of vegging, eh?

Yeah kat , everythings looking real sweet!
Sugar and spice, and everything nice! ;) (If they're all girls, that is! lol) Thanks Doc!

Finally found your thread Kat

And after seeing all the pics.........

What the Hell am I doing damn near cuttin off my finger making a screen for a scrog to control vertical height when apparently all I had to do was read a few pages of an S&M book to learn how to tie these babies down!:mrgreen:

You have like no vertical height to those ladies. That's REALLY impressive there.

Kinda neat to see all the strings and ties you used to get it like that. It looks like a miniature Spiderman had a crapload of coffee and went nuts in there. Good stuff.

Can't wait to see how these girls look in flower. Scribed. Now I just have to catch up on the reading of the thread (unless their making a movie of it soon...I'd much prefer the movie option...less work).

No HID, out of money for probably a few months. T5 it'll be! It was a decision I had to make before purchasing, but (aside from the "HID enthusiasts" lol) T5 gets great reviews for veg and bloom both; and T5 is definitely purported to be better than CFL, especially for bloom. That's why I got dual spectrum; four 30K and four 65K bulbs. One of these days I'll be able to invest in HID, and then I can really see what difference there is.... and of course still have this fixture for vegging.

Yeah, they really do seem to be masochists, lovin' the BDSM like that, eh?! Funny, I've been watching your grow in anticipation of seeing someone doing a SCROG from start to finish, rather than just a post listing steps! I was seriously thinking about building screens for this grow, but didn't have money for screen and framing. But people who LST and SCROG both say that each really does what the other does, just a different technique for the same results. I'll probably give SCROG a go one of these days, just to see which technique I personally prefer. But at this point, I'm thinking I'll prefer LST. :D

Yeah, I knew LST would make for great height control, but WOW!
Plant A: 6" x 18"
Plant B: 5" x 21"
Plant C: 4.5" x 16"
Plant D: 6" x 22"
This is at 9.5 weeks of veg.... could you imagine if I had the room to let them veg a long time?! I'd have TREES for sure!!!

Kinda neat to see all the strings and ties you used to get it like that. It looks like a miniature Spiderman had a crapload of coffee and went nuts in there. Good stuff.
 That's funny right there!!!

I've just been using twistie ties. They're actually labeled and sold as "plant" ties, so they're longer than the ones for garbage bags, etc. I got them because they were cheap.... the $1 store next door to me had eight packages of them, so I got all of them. I've got enough for many grows to come, especially since most of the ties are still quite reusable. :p

Coming soon to a theater near you....

Actually, I've been planning on putting my video camera on the tripod and shooting stuff, such as LST process and all that jazz, to post on YouTube for those who want to have a true visual of these things. But it looks like I may be moving in a couple/few weeks (LONG story; if/when it happens, I'll briefly explain), so I won't have time for setting up the cam and then editing the video, etc. Plus, the LST on these plants is done. Perhaps I'll get around to it with my next round! ;)

'Bout damn time, eh?! Exhaust fan installation couldn't have come at a better time.... it's 114 freaking degrees!!! Today was forecast to be a record breaker, and I'm sure it is! It's 98F in my living room :o yet 82F in my tent.... not as low as I'd like, but that's as low as it's gonna go. This is with the cooler, window A/C (which is right next to the tent) and every fan in the house going full blast!

ANYHOOO, thought I'd post some "pre-stretch" photos. They've grown in height since the last post, as there's no more horizontal room. Still shorties though; I'm curious what their final height will be, although I certainly won't have to worry about vertical room with 5.5' allowance. I took a shot of the exhaust fan, to show why it took so long to get it installed (at the top right of the tent); it's too heavy to hang from the tent fabric, so my friend had to build a support, and he first had to find & borrow a jig saw; he's got tons of tools, but nothing like that.

Now.... hoping for females!!!

Just like Frosted Flakes...they don't just look good....they're GREAT!

P.S. Who the hell ever thought of having a cartoon tiger be the spokesperson/mascot for a cereal that is essentially just Cornflakes with some sugar? Whoever thoughta that was smoking some seriously good stuff (and to think they dropped Michael Phelps after the bong incident).
