Speaking of water temp...since I modified my system to use a pump, manifold, and feeder tubes my water temp jumped up rapidly (over 75*) due to the pump running continuously.

It seems that the pump I was using (from my old reef tank system) is too big (over 300gph) and throttling it back (so that the feeder tubes are dripping, not streaming) causes the pump to strain and heat up.

So I bought a cheap 150gph pump, and while it still causes the water temp to rise at least it's not going above 72*.

What size water pump do you all use?
I use the 1.85 gph, the smallest I can find that till has a filter in it.

I'll consider that 1.85 gph pump if I ever do a micro grow, like in a shot glass :eyesmoke:. Until then, it seems like somewhere around 190 gph seems to be standard...my 150 gph pump seems to be working good. Thanks!

BTW, my replacement sprout (for the girl I killed) is doing good and liking the bubbleponics. She's growing faster than my other sprouts did previous to my setting up the feeder tubes.

In each post, there is a Post #, and a little blue scale, looking like this:

When someone helps you, advises you or says they like what you posted, you should click those scales in that post, and leave your name and a comment.
Then the receiver of the + REP should return the favor and give you REP back.
It is good manners.

Everytime i do that it says i need to spread it around. I do to all the bubbleheads and whoever else helps but i always get that message? Oh and one last question. Whats the best way to clone? I have never done it and my girls are showing sex i wanted to get a couple clones out of them because my girls that are in flower are almost completely done. So i should have a free system soon. I have no more seeds!!:-(

the most Usual problems are an air bubble, too hot an area, low humidity, not misting, or the air is stagnant.
Here ya go:

The most important thing is how you take that cutting, and how big is it, and where you get it, and have SOME Light on it, and in 4 to 6 days in
the Mistic Cloner, or whatever you use, they root!

I always tell people who start from seed to be sure to take two clones from the bottom of each plant just before putting the plants into flower. These clones should be labeled with the same number as the mother plant from which it was taken, as well as the date it was cut. Keep those clones alive! Take the cuttings from the plants taht gave the biggest buds.

Many growers cut the branch underwater so that no air bubbles will form in the stem of the new cutting. (YOU CUT IT OFF THE PLANT, THEN STICK IT UNDER WATER AND CUT IT AGAIN) If air enters the stem it will prevent the stem from carrying water and the cutting will die. Dipping the cut end of the stem immediately into a rooting gel also solves the air bubble problem. If using a powder the cuttings must be wet so that the powder will adhere. BUT I DO NOT USE JELLS OR POWDERS. NO NEED TO, WITH THE MYSTIC CLONER.

you should select a soft, small branch from the bottom of the plant, one that wouldn't amount to much anyway. If you are planning to keep the plant in the VEG cycle, to continue taking cuttings then you should take cuttings from any shoots that have two or three nodes. I take cuttings that are between two and four inches long, but some people prefer to take cuttings as long as eight inches.

The stem will root quickly if it is still soft and green, not woody. Make an even, diagonal slice through the branch with your clean razor, below the would-be cutting. Strip the bottom leaves off of the cutting, dip it in rooting gel and plant it.
If you make your cut right above a node on the branch then two new branches will sprout out as if it had been pinched. If you continue in this fashion then your mother will produce an exponential number of cuttings every two weeks. You will soon be proudly giving clones away to your growing friends.

The clones must be warm but not scorched or too hot. Direct light will burn them because without roots the stem cannot supply the leaves with enough water to match the leaves' rate of transpiration. Use some light,b ut far away light.
Transpiration is a part of how the plant grows. Water and nutrients travel up the stem from the roots to the leaves, where they are used in photosynthesis. Tiny hairs called stomata sweat out the moisture to allow the stream of nutrients to continue flowing. Wind aids in transpiration by blowing the moisture off the stomata, which is why a very slow fan helps. AND MIST them twice a day with plain water or a WEAK foliage nutrient enriched mist.
Do NOT put a timer on it, run it 24/7.

And there you go!

Fro visitors here, the Mystic Cloner is a small tank with 18 holes, to root 18 clones FAST. Inside the tank is a MISTER, like a FOGGER or FOGGING devise that creates a steady mist or fog in the tank on the ends of the stems. makes roots in 4 to 6 days!

I have a question. The FF feeding schedule says to have the PPM at around 1100. Does anyone know if thats just with the base nutes, or with supplements too?

For example. In week 3 of veg it says to add 2 tps of GB and 1 tsp of BB...that puts my PPM around 650...half of what it suggests. When I add cal-mag and a dash of Superthrive it brings me to about 750.

By the way my plants look like shit, and my res keeps wanting to come back up to 6.3 PH. I'm struggling, and it's pissing me off.

1100 would be with basic nutes at full veg or flower. At 3 weeks of veg 650 sounds close to right.

Don't worry about the PH unless it is over 6.5.

Using and going by a ppm meter is not the proper thing to do when you make and use nute soup.

You 'll have to figure out a way to let the ppm meter mesure the NPK and then add your supplements and catalysts and extras.

6.3 is NOT bad, you need to go from 5.7 to 6.5 for the plant to eat all the nutes.

Thanks fellas. I started using straight tap water instead of distiiled. The cool thing is after I add nutes my PH is 5.7 I didn't even use PH up or down last time I fed.

The thing is I don't think the PPM will rise to 1100 even with a full dose. I'll be switching nutes next grow.

As a matter of fact, I'd like to use whatever yall use so I can stay on the same page. I can tell Roseman doesn't like my nute soup.:-P

I don't dislike it and I admire anyone that can figure it out. I'm just afraid of it.

I've killed more plants than I ever harvested the first two years that I grew indoors, and I finally figured out I killed them when I tried something new. That's why I stay "old school".

I know bro, I'm just kidding. So what do you recommend I add/subtract from my regimine? Am I supposed to be mixing the nutes seperately, like I gallon with all the GB, 1 gallon for the BB, and the others for the cal-mag, and superthrive?

Remember I'm new to this, I'm sure I'll be making some rookie mistakes...actually it's already evident.

Determine the ppm of your plain water so you can subtract that pppm from the total..
Mix the VEG nutes in the proper prescribed dose and measure that ppm and go by that ppm as the prescribed and needed ppm.
Lastly, add the extras.

Cool, that's what I've been doing...Thanks bro. I'll add my bubblehead stripes if and when I make it to harvest...gotta earn those stripes first.
